Product Description

Product Description

It is 1908, and international tensions are mounting as the world plunges towards war. When a brilliant American battleship gun designer dies in an apparent suicide, the man's grief-stricken daughter turns to the legendary Van Dorn Detective Agency to clear her father's name.

Van Dorn puts his chief investigator on the case, and Isaac Bell soon realizes that the clues point not to suicide, but to murder. When more suspicious deaths follow, it becomes clear that someone-an elusive spy-is orchestrating the destruction of America's brightest technological minds . . . and the murders all connect to a top-secret project called Hull 44.

As the intrigue deepens, Bell finds himself pitted against German, Japanese, and British spies, in a mission that encompasses dreadnaught battleships, Teddy Roosevelt's Great White Fleet, Chinatown, Hell's Kitchen, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Isaac Bell has certainly faced perilous situations before, but this time it is more than the future of his country that's at stake - it's the fate of the world.

Couldnt put it down 5 July 2010
Format:Hardcover
Well I thought it would be difficult to match the Dirk Pit stories but this is an excellant read and a welcome addition . Its exciting , full of action and dam entertaining.Must say I had some misgivings about Clive co-opting with other writers, but Justin Scott captures Clives style very well. Well Done, Love the Characters.

A very big Clive Cussler fan, and really like the Issac Bell stories. This latest one is the best so far, with a classic storyline and plenty of twists and turns in the plot. Well worth a read.

This is the first and last story of the Isaac Bell series I will read. I found it hard to follow. The scenes are not decribed in a detail that puts you among the players. Read more

Fantastic adventure. Clive Cussler does it again. A master at his craft. Had me hooked from start to finish. Can't wait until the next one.

Clive Cussler's - The Spy
Perhaps has a tendency to wander from the plot in places to give too much background information but the plot was good, which made for an enjoyable read.

Keep you guessing
A not bad Cussler, Isaac Bell is a great character and this story is one that keeps you guessing, although not as good as the others in the series.

Good read
The only complaint I have is that he doesn't write more books per year. He crafts entertaining stories and keeps the reader on edge waiting for how the heroes will save the day. Read more

I love Clive Cussler's books. They are so well researched, gripping,well-written and can be re-read with gusto. I was introduced to him by a friend with whom I exchange books.

Another Cussler collaboration
This book is written in the style of Cussler, probably with minimal input from the man himself. It's the usual action adventure fare, not too heavy on reality although generally... Read more
