I have read The Spook's Apprentice so had some idea of what to expect from this book. I wasn't disappointed - it is a great short stand alone story, but also a good introduction to the next book in the series.
As a free book it's a must have, but the story is a bit scary so I would recommend it for age 14+

It is a really good read read in the series it leads on to the next book, the whole series is well worth reading it consists of at least 11 books.

This is a nice touch by Joseph Delaney in addition to the Spooks series. This is currently the only free book on the kindle market, and its value is immense. I dont think that this book was particularly scary in comparison to the other books in the series, so i'd say this is for anyone over 8. The trailer seems disturbing but link doesn't work right so naturally the trailer seems scary but overall the book is 4/5 for me

A great story into the past and possible future of the witch assassin Grimalkin. I especially loved the detailed description into Grimalkins thoughts in battle and out. I would recommend this book to 12 to 16 year olds due to the somewhat Gorey description of inherited and the idea of living your life with the only intention to murder someone. Although short it was still a very existing read, I can't wait for the next spooks story to come my way.
