4.0 out of 5 stars Not my usual 23 Mar 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
With 7 grandchildren I am familiar with the TV episodes of this cartoon, but to be honest, I bought this quite simply for Motorhead's 'You Better Swim' track, which was re-recorded especially for this movie from their original 'You Better Run' song. Not an embarrassment in the collection by any means, if it's okay by Lemmy, it's okay by me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you ready kids?! 13 Nov 2004
By Billy - Published on
Format:Audio CD
This soundtrack is SO much fun! Oh, I can't wait for the movie on November 19. Let's start with the first track, 'SpongeBob SquarePants Theme' by Avril Lavigne. It's actually pretty good. Has a modern touch to the Hawaiian-sounding TV theme.

Track No. 2, 'SpongeBob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy'. This is a great song. Very laid back. Makes you kinda wanna sway to the music (hehehe... like seaweed in the ocean). And I love the title. The Flaming Lips are pretty good.

Track No. 3, 'Just a Kid', by Wilco. Great guitar intro. It fits right in with the rest of the songs.

Track No. 4, 'The Goofy Goober Song'. OH MY GOD! This song is so infectious. And very simple to learn. "I'm a Goofy Goober Yeah You're a Goofy Goober Yeah We're all Goofy Goober's Yeah Goofy Goofy Goober Goober Yeah!" This has become my favorite track on the entire CD.

Track No. 5, 'Prince Paul's Bubble Party', by Prince Paul, The Waikikis, & Wordsworth. A great little rap song which is just an overview of the episode "Bubblestand", with actual sound clips. Great fun!

Track No. 6, 'Bikini Bottom' by Electrocute. Great song with a great sound. Amazingly fun to dance and sing to.

Track No.'s 7-14, 'The Best Day Ever', 'They'll Soon Discover', 'Ocean Man', 'Under My Rock', 'Now That We're Men', 'Goofy Goober Rock', 'You Better Swim', and 'The Jellyfish Song by the Jellyfish Band'. There were too many tracks to review individually, so I lumped 7-14 into one review. These songs sound great and are really fun to dance to.

Track No. 15, 'SpongeBob SquarePants Theme(Movie Version)'. LOL! This is great. It's sung by The Pirates and sounds orchestral, which it is, since the music is performed by an orchestra. But, it's funny.

I reccommend this album to everyone. I hesitated buying this this past Wednesday, but today, I was out again and couldn't resist! So I bought the CD and am still listening to it. Enjoy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Goofy Goobers of all ages! 26 Sep 2005

I am a closet SpongeBob fan (and probably not the only one), due to my kids TV and movie watching habits. I've seen the movie 3 times, heard the soundtrack once and decided I had to have it (for the kids of course). My favorite cut is SB himself singing "Best Day Ever." This is without a doubt the cutest, happiest, and most Beach Boys-esque song ever recorded (hats off the the brilliant production team who obviously spent many hours listening to Pet Sounds). Many of the other cuts are quite good, including the Wilco and Electrocute songs. A couple of exceptions: Patrick the Starfish cannot sing a note, and I defy anyone over 30 to listen to this for longer than 1 minute. The Motorhead song also, well, sucks (fortunately I can hit FF faster than my kids noticed I skipped 'em). If you want a fun, upbeat, catchy CD to listen to with your kids in the car this is it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great album for a great movie 29 Nov 2004
A Kid's Review - Published on
Format:Audio CD
The person below obviously doesn't know anything about good music. Some very good bands were selected for this album. Allow me to show you...*Ahem* MY REVIEW

Track 1: Spongebob Squarepants Theme (Avril Lavigne) - I don't like Avril Lavigne, but this version of the theme song is OK. Could be better but her voice kind of ruins it. 2/5

Track 2: Spongebob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy (The Flaming Lips) - A very nice, happy sounding peaceful song. This is one of the best on the whole album. I love the way it's sung. The music video is also good. 5/5

Track 3: Just a Kid (Wilco) - A REALLY catchy song. I like the part where the weird kids come in singing "Na na na na na na na na na!" This is fun to listen to. 4/5

Track 4: The Goofy Goober Song (Mike Simpson) - Just like what Mr. Tex said, this is my favorite on the album and is irresistibly catchy. I really like the drum & bass parts, and I LOVE the demented little children in the background going "Blah blah blah blah blah blah". This is hilarious. 6/5

Track 5: Prince Paul's Bubble Party (The Waikikis, Prince Paul & Wordsworth) - I don't really like rap music, but this track is somewhat decent. Most of it is samples from the Bubble Stand episode of Spongebob Squarepants. 3/5

Track 6: Bikini Bottom (Electrocute) - I really don't like this one. It's too poppy and happy and annoying. The only thing that saves this from getting 0 is the fact that I like the keyboard parts. 1/5

Track 7: The Best Day Ever (SpongeBob) - A fun bouncy song with a mix of instruments. Sounds kind of like The Beach Boys. The only thing I really don't like about is SpongeBob's voice. 4/5

Track 8: They'll Soon Discover (The Shins) - A really good track, even if I can't understand what the heck the guy is saying. Very good rhythm. 5/5

Track 9: Ocean Man (Ween) - Really really catchy. The ukulele sounds very nice against the guitar and the demented vocal. And the guitar solo is nice. Much better then the Loop de Loop song the band did for You're Shoe's Untied. 5/5

Track 10: Under my Rock (Patrick) - There's just something about this song I really like, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's the nice keyboard part, harmonica, or the goofy lyrics. It's good. 5/5

Track 11: Now That We're Men (Spongebob, Patrick, & The Monsters) - A good song, but it's ruined on here! It's really all about the visual humor of the scene where Spongebob and Patrick sing this song in the movie. Plus, now the knee slapping part doesn't make any sense! 3/5

Track 12: Goofy Goober Rock (Tom Rothrock with Jim Wise) - This is one of the better-known pieces on the album. It's good but I like Mike Simpson's version better. The way they use this song in the movie is hilarious! 4/5

Track 13: You Better Swim (Motorhead) - This is my least favorite on the album. I dunno. I guess I just don't like this kind of music. The guy's voice irritates me and the guitar riff is really boring. 0/5

Track 14: The Jellyfish Song by The Jellyfish Band (Plus-Tech Squeezebox Featuring SpongeBob) - A catchy, fast, mostly instrumental keyboard number. I kind of wish it was longer. 4/5

Track 15: Spongebob Squarepants Theme (Movie Version) (The Pirates) - Pretty much the opposite of Avril Lavigne's version of the theme. Kind of relaxing. A very good way to wrap up this album. 5/5

In a nutshell: A good soundtrack for the movie. Although it could have been better at parts, it's pretty solid and nice to listen to. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as the movie itself 18 Mar 2005
By K. dudinetz - Published on
Format:Audio CD
It took the movie forever to come out, and just as good as this movie is, the soundtrack was just as good at the same time. I love Spongebob Squarepants. He is so funny and square and spongy. The CD unwraps with Avril Lavigne's (the greatest singer in the history of pop music) version of the 'Spongebob Squarepants theme song, and it is awesome. Then, the Flaming Lips carry on with 'Spongebob and Patrick confront the wall psycic Energy'. Then, 'Just a Kid' by Wilco, it is a fun song with lots of really cool melodies and motions and the back ups on it sound just like, oh, so great. Then, track 4, the most awesome track of them all, 'The Goofy Goober Song' preformed by Spongebob, Patrick, Mike Simpson and Goofy Goober, it is a lot of fun and it sounds good to, lots of dancing fun is on this track. Then, there is 'Prince Paul's Bubble Party' which sounds cool and is bubble blowing-tastic, it features lines and quotes with the actual characters from the Spongebob Squarepants Series episode, 'Bubble Stand', it's a really good song. Up next, you hear Electrocutes 'Bikini Bottom' which is easy to swallow and it rocks out loud! 'The best day Ever' is preformed by Spongebob Squarepants, it is so cool. 'They'll soon Discover' and 'Ocean Man' are ok, but they are actually nothing special, I mean, I like them and they rock, but they just aren't the most noticable. So, anyways, then Patrick's 'Under my Rock' is like won of thoes modern songs that is great and catchy at the same time. 'Goofy Goober Rock' and 'You better Swim' end the album nearly, they are great. 'The jellyfish Song' is like overly awsome and a lot of fun, a whole lot of fun. 'Movie Version: Theme Song' by the Pirates is good, catchy and not the most noticable song on the whole disc. This album rocks, you should buy it, trust me it is great! If you reject it, you don't know what you are missing!
