I must admit watching this I had a great time. It is very entertaining, although formulaic. Set in Nome, Alaska in 1900 the tale is about claim jumping and fraud and thankfully it doesn't take itself too seriously. Lets face it the acting isn't great, and that probably adds to its ultimate watchability. This has caused much merriment in this household, what with Marlene Dietrich's costumes and hair-do, the stereotypical black maid, the hammy shoot outs where no one seems to bleed and many other things.
Filmed in black and white, the transfer is of good quality and well worth viewing if you want to put your feet up and esacpe the woes of everyday life. The back cover says that film critics consider the fight sequence near the end of this in the saloon to be amongst the most spectaular. I would say they must be blind, and you will fall off your seat laughing at the punches that miss by a mile, and yet cause people to reel stunned on the ground.
All in all a great b movie to watch and be amused by that will keep you entertained for nearly 90 minutes.
