This is a wonderful collection of first-person Christmas stories told by 42 different people. These stories often describe particularly memorable Christmases, and include more than a few accounts of Christmases in which the narrators were experiencing some major difficulty in life, such as the loss of a job, health problems, or family conflict.
As I read this book, I kept thinking what great lessons this would make for the ESL students whom I've taught in China; I think they would be great for ESL students anywhere. Each selection is anywhere from 3-6 pages or so, and the language shouldn't be too difficult for ESL students.
Nor is this book only for ESL students--it's for anyone who wants to read good, uplifting stories that will remind them of why we celebrate Christmas. I strongly recommend this!
