Product Description

Many aeons ago, the kingdoms of Galinor waged a bloody war, fighting for their gods and the Imperial Throne. From the ashes of ruined empires rose the mighty Danarean Dynasty, spreading its power and wealth across dozens of planets.

But the golden age of the empire is at an end. Rivalries between ancient religions are turning every citizen into a heretic, and an enemy long thought dead is gathering power from the shadows. Caught in the middle of the emperor’s ambitions and the schemes of ruthless tyrants, Prince Aldric must stand his ground, no matter the cost.

From the tropical forests and glittering cities of Thedarras, to the cold and haunted edges of the outer star system, conspiracies bring unlikely allies together. Beyond the asteroid belt, a deadly fleet of corsairs prepares to strike, and an old soldier races against time to uncover a treacherous plot.

The monarchy hangs in the balance as ancient prophecies of doom begin to unfold, and Aldric must face the ultimate betrayal by those he trusts most. All eyes turn to the throne, and amid the intrigue and treason, honour and sacrifice, one question remains: who will be the sovereign?

5.0 out of 5 stars A modern Dune 11 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is epic, sprawling fantasy adventure in the same vein as Dune. For this price it is an absolute steal. It would not surprise me at all if this was taken up commercially. Enjoying it a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare yourself for a riveting read... 7 July 2014
By M. Smead - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
When I picked up The Sovereign I FLEW through it over the course of just a weekend…and enjoyed every minute of it.

Pearson Sharp’s talent for spinning a story & for painting a dramatic scene is clear. No doubt, you’d almost mistake his rich imagery for something out of one of Frank Herbert’s Dunes. But what I liked most was how he managed to also weave in an ongoing, intelligent dialogue on the philosophy of war, of leadership, of right & wrong, etc. through a set of such memorable characters, which gave his imagined universe all that much more depth & complexity.

Read the Sovereign & prepare yourself for a smart & gripping adventure you won’t want to end…Let’s see Part 2!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 30 Jun 2014
By Jonathan Hirschbein - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Was really surprised to find this novel from an author I hadn't heard of before. It explored a world that seemed very vivid and realistic, with lots of interesting plot twists and unique settings. Reminded me a lot of Dune, but with elements of Iain M. Banks "Culture" novels. I know this is just the first book in the series, but I can't wait to read the rest!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written, semi-original work of fiction 9 July 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Pretty well written, good story line that isn't 100% original but it is more original then most of what's being churned out lately. Not much character development but that's because it's the first in a series of books. I am sure the character development that started will continue in the second book when it's finished. Definitely worth the read!
5.0 out of 5 stars Everything about this book really draws you in. 19 Aug 2014
By Megan Marie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This may be Sharp's first work, but it reads like he's done it before. Everything about this book really draws you in. There are characters you instantly love (and hate), ones you want to find more about, ones you can sympathize with, ones you wished existed in our world.... The world that Sharp has created is captivating as well. What I liked best, and what I think draws me into any fictional world, are the details about that world's past, like it's theology or it's myths, it's traditions, basically the background to why we care about what the characters are going through right now.
The plot, the characters, the world, the dialogue...all top notch. I truly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to be enchanted by the world of Errolor and beyond! 6 Sep 2014
By Allison - Published on Amazon.com

If you're looking for a fun and exciting adventure read The Sovereign! This book takes you to a world of fantasy painted by excellent imagery and yet tells a story that is plausible in nature. The dialogue will give you pause for thought at times and at others have you smirking at the quick wit the characters possess. Get ready to be captivated by the world of Errolor and beyond along with the intriguing characters involved in this story. Excited to read the sequels and go along on the adventure the author provides!
