Product Description

Ken Russell s eclectic career was undoubtedly defined by music, and he directed some of the most memorable and controversial films ever made about music in general, and composers in particular. Containing numerous watershed moments in the presentation of Arts on film and television he worked in this genre over nearly four decades and it contains some of his most personal work. This set contains the films he created for The South Bank Show - Britain s longest-running arts programme, presented throughout by Melvyn Bragg. Setting a new standard for arts coverage in the UK it provided an outlet for Russell's later works, covering Holst, Bruckner, Vaughan Williams, Bax and Elgar among others. Also included is is 'Portrait of an Enfant Terrible', a lighthearted documentary profile of Ken Russell... by Ken Russell!
