About the Author

Max Milligan is a fine art photographer who eschews the use of flash, filters and manipulation, preferring to rely on the capture of natural or available light and the relationship between the eye and the moment. A Scot himself, this is the first time he's turned his lens on his native land. The Soul of Scotland is his fifth book, following on from his memorable and highly successful photographic portrayals of Peru, Ghana and Lebanon. Renowned for his painterly style, his work hangs in corporate and private collections worldwide, including 27 pieces in the prestigious Deutsche Bank collection in London.

This book is one of the best 'coffee' books I have read. The pictures give you a real insight into the real Scotland and evoke memories of trips around this great country. A fantastic book for lovers of Scotland as well as Scots here and abroad. It gives you a different perspective of Scotland and makes you look at everything with different eyes. A great book for future presents I feel. I have read Max's other books which are also gorgeous, but being a passionate Scot, this one does it for me.

A very interesting and thought-provoking book about a country which I only barely know. The book shows great care in the selection and the taking of the photographs.
