Book Description

THOMAS KNIGHT believes in magic, especially at this time of year. He wouldn’t be surprised if Santa himself descended from the night sky and asked for directions to the nearest reindeer servicing depot. But tonight, Tom will discover that magic is real as he is thrust into a world of mythical creatures, magical objects, evil sorcerers and very cold feet.

Walking home after a Christmas party, the fourteen year old has an unfortunate encounter with a magic portal and is deposited, in an ancient realm where mystical forces originated. In his attempt to get back to his own world, Tom meets an unemployed cleric who soon learns that Tom is a powerful hero, about whom the ancient Lost Scrolls were written centuries before.

Tom enlists the help of a vampire with an affliction, a girl who is barking mad for a couple of days a month, a fairy with a masculinity complex and a weepy seer to help him get home, but he must first rid this world of it’s evil ruler, the Sorcerer Balfore, steal the source of his power, a book containing the most powerful magic and use it to open a portal back to his Berkshire home. No problem. The trouble starts when he tries to use magic. He has power, that much is certain, but it’s like using a flame thrower to light a birthday candle.

More About the Author

Born in the South Midlands in the early 70's I moved to the Isle of Wight at the tender age of eight. Having badgered my dad into buying me an ancient Underwood typewriter, I began my writing career at the ripe old age of ten.

Following a brief poetry phase I turned to the art of story telling. A year later I had completed my first novel, based on the characters created by my favorite author of the day. It was a gripping tale of adventure, crammed into twenty three thrill packed tipexed pages.

Almost three decades later, after starting many a yarn, I completed my first full length book aimed at the older children and young adults of all ages - The Sorcerer's Tome. The first of the Thomas Knight series. Keep an eye out for the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars A convincing and fun tale 23 Dec. 2013
By Chloe
Format:Kindle Edition
I started reading this book as a whim and was rewarded with a satisfying and engaging story. The characters are well thought out and I am looking forward to the sequel to discover what comes of them. I would have given it 5 stars but felt some things were over explained...but a minor diversion from a good yarn. Original characters populate a traditional good versus evil plot...a writing device that is comfortingly familiar yet still adds a twist and leaves you wanting the story to go on..

... meets Twilight, but not. It's in a league of its own, in that it is totally unique. It has been written exceptionally well, the descriptive text means you can actually picture your surroundings and the characters. My one criticism is that there is no sequel out yet!
