Believe it or not I am not a Sopranos fan, as I have never even seen the show. I came across this lovely cookbook, looking for traditional Italian recipes and got so much more. The recipes are great; I loved the Salmon Steaks with Avocado Salsa; such a wonderful summer dish and the Linguine al Pesto; just perfect. Watching American films I have always wondered what Cannolis were like, the Americans seem to eat them all the time, so I was curious. Well now I know, and I have to say they are right to like them so much.
What I really enjoyed in the book apart from the recipes, are the stories it contains. It is more of a family's scrapbook rather then just a recipe book. Memories, treasured moments, and of course recollections of cooking and dining are there, making this family real and familiar. Indeed, not having watched the show, I have to look at the photographs with the well known actors to realize that it is about a fictional family. I suppose most people are drown to this book after having loved the Sopranos on the TV, for me it is the opposite, I loved the book and now I think I am even drown to the show.
