5.0 out of 5 stars ... BUT THE MELODY LINGERS ON 29 Jan 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a 25 track CD, with some duets with Helen Forrest (a mis-spelling on the liner notes) and 2 with Patty Andrews, of the Andrews Sisters (not Paddy). As ever the quality shines through, even though few of his more famous songs are included.

Some of the tunes are familiar though, ie. "Where Or When", "It`s Magic", "Laura", "It Had To Be You", "Any Time", "You Make Me Feel So Young", "Cheek To Cheek", It Might As Well Be Spring" and "Together". Every song is performed with sheer class oozing out of every note. A must for music lovers everywhere. As the man says, "The Song Is Ended, But the Memory Lingers On".

5.0 out of 5 stars Ballad singer supreme... 6 July 2009
Format:Audio CD
25 tracks all from the halcyon years when Dick Haymes was a top liner at American Decca and ranked in the top 4 of male vocalists and was "king of the juke boxes". This compilation, all transferred from original 78s has a great line up of titles and a running time of just under 73 mins. It also includes duets with Helen Forrest and Patti Andrews, sadly wrongly shown as Paddy Andrews and with backings by amongst others "poet of the piano" Carmen Cavallaro and The Song Spinners.

Not the run of the mill compilation by any standard this will be of interest to first time and more serious Haymes collectors. I'd like to compliment the sound department for achieving such good sound from these old 78s. Liner notes by Bernie Tyrrell and Produced by Colin Brown.

This compilation by Colin Brown is a great mix of Dick Haymes favourites and a few rare items too. Listen out for the duets with Patty Andrews and the tracks backed by piano ace Carmen Cavallaro. The sound quality is excellent.
