The wonderful thing about the original "The Snowman" animation was that is was short - it remains charming and enchanting without the viewer noticing there is virtually no story here - just a collection of amusing scenes. The trouble with "The Snowman The Live Stage Show" is that it extends the viewing to three times the original length with the addition of many more pleasant but fairly bland scenes. The scene where they fly is great, but the rest is fairly uninteresting. There is lots of nice dancing and some nice (for kids) visual comedy, but it's just too long. It's not special enough to support all the added scenes of harmless but pretty bland dancing. I thought it would be good and found it very dull. However, in its defence, my eleven year-old daughter likes it, and my wife says she does (though she gets up to do the chores about 20 minutes in, and only occasionally looks round the door at the screen - which says a lot).
