This book claims that the regular consumption of smoothies improves health by making it easy to incorporate more fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods into your diet. Because smoothies are simple to make and portable, they can be an easy option to meet this goal. The book lists several reasons that the ingredients in its smoothie recipes increase health, and cites mostly other smoothie recipe books as references. It also explains why smoothies are more healthful than juicing. The book provides explanations for making smoothies, tools needed, and shopping tips. Recipes are arranged according to the reader’s goal (cleanse, weight loss) or by meal categories. Calorie counts are provided, but no other nutrition information is given for the recipes.

Márquez once wrote that vegetable meals leave one with a forlorn look. The man never read The Smoothie Recipe Book for Beginners, enables even absolute beginners to conjure magic realism in a glass.

Sure, Márquez had a point. The idea of a seven-day cleanse by way of smoothies, water, and tea, does put the crimp in junk-food jonesing.

But after the book’s obligatory “let-food-be-thy-medicine” pitch, the cookbook gets down to a quick, satisfying just-the-facts-ma’am run through breakfast, lunch, mid-afternoon, and dinner treats. The itinerary takes you to the essentials: Spicy Tomato-Cucumber Cleanse, Mindful Melon, Apple-Cinnamon Power Breakfast, and more.

Along the way, The Smoothie Recipe Book makes peace between the warring fruit and vegetable juice factions (take it away John and Yoko, “All we are saying… is give that mix a chance!”).

With your newly cleansed body and a fistful of recipes, you too will be (dare one say it), one smoothie operator.

Great book for smoothie lovers! Just five simple steps to improving one’s health, losing weight, adding essential nutrients to one’s diet, and helping prevent aging. Also included: tips for substituting foods, the best equipment to buy, how to save time and money, and how to purchase and prepare produce. Most recipes have 4 to 6 easy-to-follow steps with few ingredients. Additional pluses: the dessert smoothies will leave you feeling anything but deprived, and the list of The Dirty Dozen and The Clean Fifteen is invaluable.

I recommend this book with a couple of cautions, though: I'm not big on cleanses, so I would bypass those chapters, and some superfoods may be difficult to find (there’s a few I’ve never even heard of).

The Smoothie Recipe Book for Beginners is a great short informative read. This book gives concise in-depth to the point answers. I like that it clarifies juices vs. smoothies. It gives the positives of smoothies without making juicing look less sufficient. You learn more about the well known benefits of increased produce consumption like decreased risk of diabetes, better digestion, improved mental clarity but the book also mentions a few others like relief from headaches, increased bone strength and more energy without caffeine intake. The book gives good tips on to select a blender and how to make perfect smoothies. You get delicious recipes that are mainly inexpensive that will improve your health and help you to look and feel better.

I give this book 4 stars. It is always important when u get all the necessities from the foods or even the types of juices or drinks we put into our bodies. Smoothies are one of the best ways to incorporate essential vitamins and minerals we lack on a daily basis into our every day meals.

I like this book because it gives not only benefits but a wide variety of recipe mixtures for different ailments or even just to satisfy a moments craving. Address a common cold or acne, or hypertension. Possibilities are that specific vitamins can come from the fruits used to create smoothies.

The recipes are amazing. And the author is right. Juices do have a way of eliminating all the natural fibers whereas smoothies miss nothing particularly. You get to enjoy a quick drink needed with no substitutions for vitamins after. Lose weight, increase your energy, boost your self esteem with smoothies.

I would recommend this book to anyone. I think it's awesome, and there is a lot to gather and even more benefits to gain.
