Book Description

The Slaver Wars Book 4

The cryosleep chambers are beginning to fail. Surveillance of Hocklyn space has revealed that the Hocklyns are thirty years ahead of their projected schedule and will soon reach human occupied space. War could break out any day if something isn't done. The human leaders suggest a daring plan to buy them the additional time they need to strengthen the Fleet, as well as the defenses protecting their worlds. A First Strike deep into Hocklyn space might just buy the human worlds the extra time they need to finish their preparations for all out war against the Hocklyn Slave Empire.

For nearly four hundred years, Admiral Hedon Streth has slept waiting to lead the human race against the evil from the center of the galaxy. Now that time has arrived. Can Hedon and the other sleepers lead Earth and her colony worlds to victory over the Hocklyns or are they destined to become slaves or even worse, see their worlds destroyed?

5.0 out of 5 stars keeps you wanting more 28 Feb. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just finished this and book three and already downloaded book five.

A great read with all the elements you need for classic sci fi, goodies, baddies, heroes, villains, romance (thankfully in small doses) and a little bit of humour.

Also he way it's written doesn't come over all high techy and daft, you can imagine the weapons as slightly advanced from what we have now which to me makes more sense than describing something implausible.

Very good read, page turning adventure stuff just like it should be, well done and keep them coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, fast moving page turner. 25 April 2015

Really great, exciting, page turning stuff. Have now read all so far of this series and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The only tiny minus aspect is perhaps the occasional romantic element but then that's me being an old fogey! Also, a wee bit grating again is the American obsession with big busts and accentuated female "cod" lips, eg. Even the artificial female intelligences create these for themselves - so that the male human crew members will ogle them???! Just a small additional point from a retired English teacher - perhaps a proof reader should have more carefully perused the pages as there are occasional errors such as "by" instead of the correct "my" , and semantic errors, eg, "interned", instead of "interred" and "an "abject" lesson" instead of " an object lesson" But, I know, I'm being really pedantic now and overall these books are a real credit to the genre. I recommend them to all lovers of Sci-FI and am at this very moment ordering the next book for a really good page turning read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable 4 Nov. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I guess the 'proof of the pudding' is that I couldn't put this down until I'd finished reading it. It is a very entertaining, fast paced story that holds your attention and is, on the whole, well told and plotted. The 'science' doesn't bear close examination and if you are going to enjoy this book you need to put to one side some bits which would otherwise have you rolling about laughing eg the ships AI pronouncing that, "next time, I'll do the calculations to 12 decimal places!" There are numerous examples of this type of thing and there are a lot of spelling mistakes, miss-used words and grammatically tortured sentences and paragraphs. However, as I stated initially, the basic story is good and, if you can put the short comings to one side, it is well worth reading. The authors other works in this series are in the same vein, read them for the good story and don't let the fax pas bother you. I look forward to the next installment and will definitely buy it when it is published.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slaver wars 16 Feb. 2014

Have read all this series so far and yes you can pick faults with them as with any book if you look hard enough.
But what a great fast paced story of pure escapism involving aliens and humans fighting for survival, great science fiction, keep them coming please !

    5.0 out of 5 stars Smashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 22 Oct. 2013

Loved the book from start to finish. Plenty of action, great character development and cracking story line. Many authors go into too much detail and take too long to actually tell the story but this is not the case with this book. Here you just get action sequence after action sequence. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one.

Similar to another review the only down side for me was the lack of development around the alien allies but I'm sure this will come in the next installment.

    5.0 out of 5 stars I like this series 6 Dec. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sat and read this this today, next generation stepping in to do their bit. Gives a lot more away about the origins of all the protagonists and their background. Not all the main characters are safe as sacrifices are needed and made - they even free a slave race resembling the Star Wars Wookies. Now more prepared and less beleaguered, with some allies, who will come out on top?
I like this series, will keep reading as I need to know how it ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable 4 Nov. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have enjoyed every episode of this series and very much look forward to the next one. My only quible? I could not care less how many meters a ship measures. I also find myself frequently skipping over the exact makeup of any particular fleet. I get that they are huge. I dont need the lists. Other thank that I am fairly enjoying this series.
