As a teacher in history in the highschool I really appreciate this serie "History files" from "Thames & Hudson". The books are small and very handy but big enough to content 144 pages packed with beautiful high definited colourpictures on highquality paper. As a new and very original feature the book has a special pocket with 10 facsimile documents. These documents looks very autentic and will give the reader a feeling of looking at the real documents. As an extra service there are transcriptions and translations of the documents in the end of the book. I have many books about slavery and James Walvin is one of the leading british scholars on that subject. This book is written for the average reader who want to read a serious book about slavery with many details written in a living language in an educating and entertaining way, despite the very tragic subject. I have immediately ordered the three other books in this serie (Russian tsars; The Cold War; Great Explorers).

Not sure yet as the person I bought it for hasn't read it yet. Layout and contents of chapters looked fine.
