I bought this book when it came out not convinced that it would actually work! Now at the beginning of Week 3 I have lost 10lbs already. Being diabetic the diet suits me very well and some of the recipes leave you struggling to finish the plateful - for example the Tuna Nicoise Salad. I love the Hearty Tomato and Basil soup - ideal to make and take to work to reheat for lunch, even my husband likes it and he's not on the diet! Working full time including late nights can be problematic but overall you seem to be able to get around it. Evening meals without potatoes, pasta and rice were difficult the first week but seem like second nature now. I recommend this book to anyone who has tried most other fad diets that don't work - this really is a change of eating book and not a diet - good for anyone who is diabetic and fed up with being told 'it's easy to lose a stone' by the nurses!!

I bought this book for myself as I have about a stone or so that I would like to shift. However, a friend borrowed it from me before I had a chance to open it and she's had amazing results in a short time. She does have quite a lot of weight to lose but within 3 weeks she has already lost over a stone and gives full credit to this book. Lots of no-nonsense advice and clear guidelines about how to get started. It obviously works and I hope she gives it back soon!!

Loved it from the first page, I have tried numerous diets over the years although this is "common sense" the way bob writes it makes it easy to follow. The menus are good and recipies easy to do. I have lost 20lb in 3 weeks The only downside was that I purchased it as a kindle book and would suggest you buy a proper book if you are going to try it !

I bought this book as I have been watching 'Biggest Loser' and really like Bob Harper. I've already lost 2 stone, and found that I'm already following a few of the rules just using common sense. I read this book in two days, as I really wanted to get the most from it quickly. I agree with most of the rules and I'm making the changes I need to follow as many as I can (drinking water before every meal and switching to wholemeal were the first two to be added to my routines). Eating berries and apple was also not too big a change for me. There is one rule however that I tried and have ruled out as it is NOT FOR ME. Going to bed hungry - I can see the theory behind it, but it doesn't work for me personally. I tried it for two days, but ended up so hungry that I ate biscuits late evening and then felt bad.. You might be thinking 'Greedy so and so has no willpower', but up until that point I'd gone three months without a single biscuit or cake! They weren't even biscuits that I liked! Overall I loved this book, but have to reduce the stars because following some of the advice made me slip up a bit and then feel bad (not a good thing for a comfort eater) - hopefully though the rest of the rules will help me make healthy long term changes to my diet.

This book is my new bible. Although dieting is not rocket science, not many of us seem to be able to accept that if we want to be healthy and slimmer we have to change our lifestyle completely. This book is very blunt on we should and shouldn't eat and unfortunately Bob is right. I admit I've not done everything he says, however, I try not to have any carbs after 3.00 pm and I am now snacking on low fat greek yoghurt and berries. My advice is to have a read and if you can't go cold turkey then introduce sections over a few days, oh and leave biscuits, cakes etc alone ... for ever. Sorry that really is non negotiable.
