This is the first one of Richard Montanari's books I have read, but it sure won't be the last.
Although it's a familiar story of cops versus the serial killer, it is very well plotted, fast moving and will keep you guessing. The characters are well drawn with some of the lowlifes especially, sticking in the readers memory. The action is good (and quite graphic) but the thing that sets it apart from the pack is the quality of the writing. The author provides a brilliant mix of characters, supense, terror, gore and even a little humour.
This book is so good it makes Thomas Harris look second-rate.
