There are many CD hit packages floating around by this prolific artist, but this charted recording (#13) is better than most. It offers 30 of her bestselling singles and is a wonderful piece of nostalgia set to CD. The sonics are fine and the packaging is very appealing and should be part of any fan's collection. Connie has stated she preferred her Lp work over her hit singles, but for the American audience, they prefer the hits. And this is one of the better collections released. If you cannot find her comprehensive singles collection "Souvenirs" (a 4 CD box set that includes all her singles for MGM from 1955-69) or the recent 50 (songs)two disc "Gold", this is the disc for any music lover who appreciates not only a pleasant trip down memory lane, but singing at it's very best. And your tour guide, who better than Connie Francis to take you back to a more innocent time? A wonderful compilation of many well-known songs. Congratulations to the UK for this splendid addition to the Connie Francis catalog!

Connie was the first female singer to succeed against the men of rock'n'roll - and Connie could certainly rock as some of these songs prove. Connie's best up-tempo songs were Lipstick on your collar, Stupid Cupid and Vacation. Everybody's somebody's fool is a brilliant mid-tempo country-flavored song. As good as those hits are, it was as a ballad singer that Connie really did best
Who's sorry now, Among my souvenirs, Together and Carolina moon, four classic ballads that Connie made her own, are not original songs as many assume - they are all covers of songs written in the 1920's, Other classic ballads include Don't break the heart that loves you (only a minor UK hit for Connie but a huge American hit), My happiness (a cover of a 1940's song), Breaking in a brand new broken heart, Mama, My heart has a mind of its own, Many tears ago and Where the boys are.
If you are interested in rock'n'roll music of the late fifties and early sixties, Connie's music should appeal to you. Several compilations are available (including double CD's and boxed sets) but some are re-recordings while others miss out essential songs. This compilation contains all of Connie's British chart hits including both sides of her two double-sided singles. As such, it is the strongest single CD ever released in the UK. If you want more than just one CD, I recommend the double CD (Singles plus) or the boxed set (Souvenirs) instead.

If you only want to buy one Connie Francis collection, this is the one to have! The disc is about as full as it can be, containing thirty hits: almost all of the favourites are there. The sound quality is stunning - especially when compared to how some of these tracks sounded on vinyl in the 50s and 60s! Add this to your collection!

This is the most compehensive Connie Francis hits collection on a single CD. There are 2 reasons why I did not give 5 stars. First the tracks are not in recording date order, or even release date order: they appear to be in completely random order! Second some minor singles are omitted, notably:-
Happy Days And Lonely Nights
If I Didn't Care
Teddy
When The Boy In Your Arms

'Connie Francis' was one of the biggest names of the late 50's and early 60's chart scene, certainly
one of the most prominent female artists of that time, having quite a run of hits during that period.
She achieved two number one hits in the U.K with 'Who's Sorry Now' (1958) and 'Carolina Moon/
Stupid Cupid' a double 'A' release the same year.
I already owned a 'Greatest-Hits' album prior to buying this one a few years back, for just the one
song i'd found difficult to get hold of, it was the B-Side to 'Where The Boys Are' (Chart '5' 1961)
the song was 'Baby Roo' used to play that frequently back then, as mentioned before, we really did
listen to the B-Sides back then when just starting out on our 'Vinyl' collection, and quite often found
them to be as good as the 'A' sides.
Among some of the other hit sounds on-board 'My Happiness' (Chart '4' 1959) 'Lipstick On Your
Collar' (Chart '3' also 59') that one was a great favourite for many back then, 'Mama/Robot Man
another double 'A' Release (Chart '2' 1960) 'Everybody's Somebody's Fool' (Chart '5' also 60')
'My Heart Has A Mind Of It's Own' ('Chart '3' also 60') 'Together' (Chart '6' 1961) and 'Vacation'
(Chart '10' 1962) these along with those i'd listed at the top of the page, were her Top-Ten Chart
Entries (all on-board this release)
The album also contains many more of, perhaps, lower-order successes, remembering you had to
sell a lot of singles back then to chart at all.
'Connie' now aged 75 still performs today, i suspect her show includes many of the favourites that
are harboured on-board this release.

In the past I have found albums of a single singer to be pretty boring after the first two or three songs. Each item tends to sound like the previous one, the singer often does not appear to be able to give each song a different interpretation.
Not this one however.
Connie is able to give each song its individual emotional appeal.
Her voice is lovely. No forcing of strained depths or heights and also there is no American slur at the end of any of the words which is apparent when you listen to some of the other singers - be they American or British.
I listen to this album on so many occasions, enjoying the nostalgia but also the sound of a lovely young woman.
