CD Description

The first ever round up of all the singles, A s and B s, that the legend that is Ian Hunter issued for CBS and Chrysalis. Originally known as the voice and face of Mott The Hoople, Hunter split in 1975 and started a solo career that is fast approaching its 40th year From 1975 s Once Bitten Twice Shy (a UK No.14 hit) right through until late 83 s Somethin s Goin On , this 29 track release has all of Ian s 45 s including many versions that were specially edited from LP length The sadly missed Mick Ronson plays on a good few of the tracks and other contributions come from the likes of Queen, members of Bruce Springsteen s E Street Band including Clarence Clemons, John Cale of Velvet Underground and The Clash s Mick Jones The song Ships later gave (of all people) Barry Manilow a USA Top 10 hit whilst Once Bitten Twice Shy was taken into the American Top 5 by Great White

First let me point out,The music on here is brilliant,Ian Hunter must be one of the most underrated singers around,Yes he got a lot of deserved praise with Mott The Hoople, But since going solo his music has been criminally ignored especially in the UK.The production on this compilation is first class,The remastering has been expertly handled by Tim Turan,Who did an excellent job on the back catalogue of both Slade and Nazareth. My complaint is that on the booklet there are picture's of Ian hunters single's-Included is the picture sleeve's for the songs "Just another night & Standing in my light",But neither song is included on the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true great 28 Feb 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Love Ian Hunter and still producing great albums and performing great shows.
Had to grab this to go into the collection
many Gems included
This guy must be one of our most influential and prolific songwriters although never seeming to get the public recognition his career deserves I feel sure that he is regarded highly by his peers.
Keep Rockin Ian

4.0 out of 5 stars Everything IH Did with Ronno was great 28 Oct 2013
By Bill Board - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
...and that one track, "We Gotta Get Out Of Here" was singularly the greatest song - AND greatest TV performance thereof - in/of the year 1980. Musically, the song is a blast, as was most everything IH did until Ronno's untimely demise - but (really, there are just no words) "We Gotta Get Out Of Here" is enhanced exponentially by the presence of Ellen Foley doing, basically, the same thing to IH that she did to Meatloaf a scant three years earlier. "Welcome To The Club" costs a pot, and I know
"Outa Here" is available on other "greatest hits," although you have to look - but, trust me on this one: that one song with Ellen Foley makes every penny you pay for the CD or the MP3 (I still don't know what that means) more than worthwhile.

4.0 out of 5 stars Real good 6 Aug 2012
By mars - Published on Amazon.com

i know the mott stuff but was not familiar with ian's solo material. Real good production. This is classic rock from late 70's early 80's. If you are a mott fan you will be surprised how good this sounds. I would have preferred greatest hits with rarities similiar to the ballad of mott 2 disc set but this is really good. Get it if you are curious.

I absolutely love All of the Good Ones Are Taken, and several of the other songs were not too bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where Is Just Another Night?? 24 Aug 2012
By MJH - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a silly, redundant collection. The music is good but WHY????? Who needs this?? Once again, they had to try really really hard to screw this up and they did. What is here is great but where is Just Another Night? If you look at the pictures of the singles on the cover they even show Just Another Night but then don't put it on the CD??????? What the heck???? It is only his best song from this period!! SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!
