Product Description

Product Description

In The Sims 2 University players for the first time will play through the new "young adult" life stage as their Sims head off to university and join the campus crowd. Whether they live in the halls or rush a fraternity or sorority that's just the beginning...Sims can choose from one of 11 courses and by keeping their grades on track, they'll secure a final degree and open up 4 new career paths. Players will enjoy all-new university based wants and fears that are tied to their Sims' social life and academic goals which will lead to new rewards and powers that will help them achieve their goals and aspirations in university and beyond.

Pranks, parties and university social interactions add to the excitement while your Sims explore campus locations such as university lounges, pool halls, gyms and coffee houses. As in real life, if your Sims start running low on funds, they can earn Simoleans by picking up a part time job, like tutoring, or engaging in riskier affairs like printing money as a member of the "secret society".

Of course, making the right decisions can lead your Sim to the ultimate goal of becoming "Big Sim on Campus" in The Sims 2 University. The Sims 2 is required to play The Sims 2 University.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent new twist to the original Sims 2 13 Mar 2005
Sims 2 by itself is a great game to play which can easily wittle away hours of your time. However, with the addition of this expansion pack it adds a couple of nifty new features to the original. Such as:
-> Several more career paths(paranormal, natural scientist, show business).
-> More clothing for the age groups as well as the new young adult group.
-> University campus areas.
-> The ability to unlock six wants instead of the original four when graduating and the ability to lock two of these rather than the one.
-> New life long aspiration objectives which allow your sim to increase their aspiration level to gold for the rest of their lifetime.
-> New influencing bar that allows a sim with many friends to become more influential and persuade other sims to do certain actions.
-> More objects (pool table, variety of exercise machines, and musical instruments for example).
-> New interaction options such as pillow fight and ventrilofart.
-> Can create custom campus areas in a similar fashion to the original custom neighbourhoods.
-> Computer Generated Sims. Upon entering university accomodation the player can select a dorm room for their sim and the remainder which don't have player created sims moving in will be filled with computer generated sims to interact with (these sims can follow you back into the neighbourhood once the player's sim graduates as well).
All in all a great expansion pack and enough features to make it worth the money and increase your Sims 2 playing time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Education was never this exciting! 12 Mar 2005
Verified Purchase
So, now time for a proper review, with a copy of the game that's actually been paid. First of all, let me commence by filling you in on the meaty additions to the game. After all, some people will buy this add-on just to enhance their existing Sims. Sims 2 University adds four new careers: Artist, Paranormal, Natural Scientist and Show Business. These new careers also come with their own career rewards, of most interest being the Resurrect-O-Nomitron and the Cow Plant (fans of Evil Dead and Little Shop of Horrors will appreciate)! For those of you who liked some of the original careers, the graduated Sims will accelerate into the existing career paths, particularly if you've selected an appropriate major (for instance, a major in economics will set that Sim up nicely for a career in Business).
There are a lot of new items, with some requiring special mention. The new instruments can be played in sync and earn money for busking Sims, and hustling at the pool table is a joy to watch! There are also some new items specific to the campus allowing all manner of nefarious deeds.
The actual game dynamic of this expansion is what really impressed me. Where as previous expansions for The Sims just added a few actions and items, this provides an entire mini-game within Sims 2. There's such an enormous amount of scope that how you decide to play it really is critical. Time in Sims 2 could be countered with the Elixir of Life, but The Sims 2 University only gives you finite time. This expansion actually feels more like a game than a simulation, which I find a very satisfying addition. So how do you win?
Well, as I said, there's many ways around it. It just depends what you want for your Sim. Money is available in all manner of ways, truly not disadvantaging any skill sets over others.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Little Sims Are All Grown Up 23 April 2005
I was really excited when I heard that the newest expansion pack for the Sims was a university expansion pack, as it was unlike anything offered in the original game. I do question the release date of the pack though....the day after winter sat A-Level results were released was probably a bit depressing for those who hadn't done as well as they had hoped.
The new expansion pack allows you to send your teen sims off to the big wide world of college/university. It opens up a whole new playing ground, complete with Greek Houses and dorms, and give you a whole new lot of NPCs to play with. What's more, the "send sims to college" feature in college town allows you to pick NPC teens from your original town and let them grow up into young adults.
There's the chance for your Sim to pick to study from eleven majors and each major has an ideal career to go along side it, as well as two other additional "good" careers. If your Sim successfully gets their degree and then chooses to enter one of the careers the major supports, they will find themselves miles up the promotional ladder to begin with. However, not all the fourteen career paths (made up of the ten original and the four new paths- paranormal, artist, show business and natural scientist) have an ideal major.
So, other than a helping hand in the career department, what does your Sim get in return for spending four years of their life at college? If they finish their first year, they will get an additional want box. For finishing their second year, they will get the option to change their aspiration (nice touch on the behalf of Maxis for mimicking the life-changing and personal development most students go through at university but just plain useless if, like me, you like to keep aspirations just the way they are, thank you very much).
