There are 3 versions of the Showtime expansion pack- the normal one, the limited edition one and then there's the Katy Perry limited edition one. I went for the Katy Perry one because if you're gonna buy it, why not buy the one with everything on it!! There are 2 limited edition downloads with this game (there is only one with the limited edition pack and none with the normal pack). You also get a poster of Katy and some guitar picks with her version which is nice but not a deal breaker (unless you want that kind of thing!)
Aside from all the Katy Perry stuff (and by the way she isn't a pre-made character just incase you were wondering! Although you can make her yourself obviously), the game is a good expansion. You can be acrobats (which is so far all I've managed to do because its such a good career I just keep playing it!), erm you can be in a band or a singer. There are new personality traits such as Diva and Natural Born Performer to use which are good.
You have to get gigs at local venues and there is a new town which is full of bars and places where you can play. The more places you play at the more become available as some are only able to be used if you're at a certain career level.
You can play for tips too to boost your skill level and obviously earn some money so you can work a lot longer that normal jobs as you have open hours.
Overall this game is well worth the money- far more than any of the other expansions and I have all the ones that are out including the "stuff" packs. I just can't wait for Supernatural to come out now :D

The latest expansion pack for the Sims 3 is, as stated in the title, good fun. The new careers are great, as are the new items. The only real downside is that the exclusive content needs to be downloaded from EA's Sims Store instead of being included on the game disc. This means that you need an Origin account to do it. If you don't want an Origin account for whatever reason it would probably be best if you buy the regular version.

I bought this pack inside of the original Showtime pack because I thought there are some remarkable extra features, turns out it's only a few more outfits and hairstyles and something like 10 items for the house. I would only recommend to someone who's a massive Katy Perry fan, otherwise save your money.

It's not my favourite Sims EP, but it is still brilliant. You need a lot of time to help teach your Sim the new tricks, and I would strongly suggest starting on a 'practise' Sim before letting your legacy get involved!!

Let me start with a warning: I bought this expansion thinking that I'd get the extra bonus features just like with the sims medieval, with an in-box code to type into the game, but at the time I bought this I there was no information explaining that these items were only bonuses by downloading them (something also not made clear on the box cover). I haven't tried downloading these items as my sims 3 pc isn't online but I'll warn you the codes needed to download in my game came with an expiration date of one year after this expansion pack was created, so beware that even if you buy this collector's edition you may not be able to get hold of the downloadable extras.

Now onto the installation. Installing the game was no problem, requiring the serial code just like the base game, the problem for me came with the start of the game. As soon as the game loads and you want to enter a neighbourhood or saved game you are prompted to log in online. Of course you can refuse and continue without logging in but I found this an annoyance as every single time you load a game it prompts you.

The new online features I haven't tried but this expansion went crazy in trying to make sure everyone goes online. When you click on memories to look at them you can't just tick the box that you are done viewing them, you have to press the x to go back to your game or the game will try to post that sim's memory on facebook. The online features in this game allow your sims to go into another player's game, at least for a short while, more on that in a moment, first to the gameplay.

The sims showtime is actually a great expansion pack if you ignore all the obsessive online prompting. Showtime introduces the idea of sims being able to be on stage as either singers, acrobats or magicians.

I bought this for my 14yr old daughter, a Sims veteran who knows her stuff. She loves it, absolutely loves it. Perry shows up, but not too much, singing various songs in Sim language and somehow as a character herself. For Sims fans a must, and hard to get in the High Street as they're simply not stocking it.

When I got this expansion pack for my Sims 3 game, I was really excited. I'd been caught up in the ridiculous hype that was the advertising campaign. Screenshots and promises of fun and NEW goals to go after got me all excited and the prospect of these amazing extra venues, clothes and items I'd get if I spent just a little extra and got the Katy Perry Collector's Edition... It's the first time in my life I've ever bought a collector's edition of a computer game and can I just say, it's probably the last as well. While the shiny cover and the prospect of exclusive extras are both very attractive, what I actually got was disappointing. I expected more in-game bonuses such as the actual hair the Katy Perry sim has (I've yet to find that in my game) and more than just "stage props". Who really cares about stage props? I know I don't. The SUPER VENUE was also rather disappointing. I mean, it's just exactly the same as one that already is in the game except it's a different shape on the outside and has "ultimate" in its title. Waste of space in my neighbourhood. The other extras included a poster (probably fantastic if you're a 14 year old girl which I supposed the game is aimed for) and guitar picks (mind you, not designed for actual use). So a bit disappointed with the whole Collector's Edition business.
The game itself has got an interesting concept - you can visit your friends! Except, not really. Supposedly you can send your sims to your friends' venues and they can see them perform there. Of course in my game, this doesn't work for no apparent reason. I can host guests, but only about a third of the time. Even that seems a bit pointless. If I've got enough friends (and enough luck to make it work), I can earn BONUS ITEMS!
