This is quite easily my favourite of all the Sims 2 expansion packs. It adds a whole new dimension to your Sims world, giving them different seasons to enhance their environment.
But it's not just about whether its snowing or raining outside. This expansion pack is a lot more than about the aesthetics.
Your Sims now get more wardrobe and haircut choices than before. You can select a different haircut, for each type of outfit. Also, you can dress your Sim in appropriate outerwear clothing, to make sure they go out into the snow all snug and warm!
Each season also enhances different aspects of your Sim. The spring is the time for romance to blossom, summer helps increase their friendships, autumn is the best season to make your sims study hard, and winter is the time for being inside and cosy and building relationships with the family.
To add, there's a few extra surprises with Sims 2. You can grow and harvest crops, and by drinking the juice of these crops, you'll find it can give your Sim a few extra benefits. Healthy eating has never had such a good incentive! There are also green house building options, or your Sims can go fishing in their pond. Look out for the penguin in the winter.
This really makes the most of the idea of your Sims being outdoors. There are new additional pool tools and games (snowball fights, building snowmen, playing in leaves, and water balloon fights). You might find that your Sims are more keen to spend time outdoors than indoors!
To add, the colours in this game are incredible. An autumnal morning sunshine is just beautiful. You may also want to increase the time your Sim spends in the garden. Whether its cultivating a prize winning garden (and getting rather magical rewards from the Gardeners Club), raking up leaves for composting, or fishing in the pond and getting some food for the family, this EP really adds a very welcome dimension to the game. Just don't leave them out too long if its cold or hot, or if its hailing!
This game also features new and exciting careers for your Sims to pursue. From teaching to adventurers, or working in record shops.
As with other Sim EPs, this comes with its own "special" type of character - plant people. There is already one for you in the new community to play with. The plant people can produce babies without the aid of a partner, or happiness spores.
My only complaint with this game (and I believe others have had the same problem) is how slow it can run, so I tend to try and run it on a minimum setting - low graphics, details, etc.
Overall though, I think this is the best expansion pack yet. It really enhances the overall game experience and appearance, it adds extras to what is already there and available (the furniture and wardrobe are beautifully updated), and the attention to detail and extras are just fantastic.
