With innovative features never before seen in The Sims PC franchise and a world of new possibilities on land and in sea, your Sims will reap the benefits of their own island paradise.

KEY FEATURES

  • Set sail for adventure. Be it by paddleboat or speedboat, your Sims can now leave port to discover new lands and explore like never before, from inter-island travel to discovering their own uncharted island. Landlubbers need not apply!

  • Build and run a five-star resort. Create a family-friendly resort of waterslides and buffet tables, a romantic retreat dotted with minimalist cottages, or a singles resort featuring multiple pool bars where Sims can mingle and flirt. Choose and fine-tune your amenities, set your prices, and wait for the reviews—and Simoleons—to pour in. The higher your star rating, the more popular your resort will be!

  • Life is a beach. See what surprises await under the sea as your Sims build their skills in snorkeling/scuba diving. Your Sims may find themselves on the shore of a new island or discover sunken or buried treasure.

  • Boat sweet boat. Whether your Sims love the water or are just prone to wanderlust, a houseboat may be the perfect abode. Houseboats are fully customizable and can be moored at any open port, so if your Sims tire of the view, relocate to a new locale!

  • New ways to build. New stilted foundations give your Sims the best of both worlds—a home that’s partially on the water and partially on land. Build a resort, create travelling houseboats, and customize your very own island paradise for your Sims!

The Sims™ 3 Island Paradise LIMITED EDITION includes the exclusive Island Survival Pack

5.0 out of 5 stars Sims at Sea 28 Jun. 2013
    Platform for Display:PC| Edition:Limited Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I own all of the Sims 3 expansion packs & this has to rate as one of the best. It's great to be able to build & run your own holiday resorts again (remember the original Sims "Holiday" pack ?), and the new pre-made resorts are brilliant - they even have swim-up bars in the swimming pools. However this pack also has lots more features to explore.

You can now build a stilted home over the water or even build your own houseboat. Just look for a "port" site and select the "set houseboat" option. Once it's completed you can sail it & dock it at all the port locations around Isla Paradiso (the new tropical island world). Instead of the family car, why not buy a boat (power boats, sail boats even swan boats are available) - and sail out to the best beaches & dive locations. You can windsurf, or if you build up your snorkelling & swimming skills you'll be able to scuba dive under the sea (different dive locations are unlocked as you build up your skill). Watch out for the sharks !

There's a new life-form - mermaid. You can't make them in "create a family", but if you befriend a mermaid they can join your family as a playable character (baby mermaids are possible), or you can actually become a mermaid if you're able to get hold of some "Mermadic Kelp".

There's 4 new lifetime wishes, 7 new lifetime rewards, new traits, a new career (lifeguard), and of course new(water related) ways to die!

The Limited Edition version also comes with free "Island Survival Pack" - (some driftwood furniture & a camp fire to cook on)for those who want to build a basic castaway style "desert island" lot.

No instruction manual, and not a lot in the way of specific in-game help for this expansion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Water Great Expansion! 29 Jun. 2013
    By Dan S
    Platform for Display:PC| Edition:Limited Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
With the hotly anticipated Sims 4 already confirmed and in the pipeline for 2014, fans may be wondering how much mileage is still left in the existing Sims 3 franchise. As a big Sims 3 fan and owner of all of the expansion and stuff packs, I always feel a little surge of excitement at the anticipation of a new release. Step forward, Sims 3 Island Paradise...

Just like World Adventures and University Life, this EP attempts to take the base game into new directions by offering opportunities to change the dynamics of gameplay; the most noticeable feature here being the chance to own and manage your own tropical island resort. If you're unfamiliar with the Sims 3 range of expansions, then there are basically two types. Those that substantially add to the features of the original base game (Ambitions, Pets, Seasons etc.), and those that take the game off on more of a tangent into new directions (World Adventures and University Life). Island Paradise rather cleverly straddles the two; seamlessly integrating water-based gameplay (windsurfing, snorkelling, lifeguarding, houseboats etc.) to the base game, whilst adding the new dimension of resort management. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a "Resort Tycoon", this will probably appeal to you.

    The Good:
    * there is a new world, Isla Paradiso - a stunning island archipelago with all of the fully functional facilities you'd expect to find in any Sims world
    * there's lots of waterborne activities to try out: why not take to the seas in a sailboat, paddleboat or rowing boat and discover new exotic locations? For the adrenaline junkies, there's aquasleds, waterskiing or windsurfing to be enjoyed. You can also try your hand at fire pit walking (a throwback from Sims 2 Castaway for consoles).

I love this expansion. It is set on my favourite island, Isla Paradiso. Lots of hidden islands ready to unlock and explore to claim as your own. Even more private islands, surrounded by the blue sea and the dive lots (SCUBA DIVING!).

Resorts... Are incredible. I love running my own, hiring my staff, designing their outfits, setting their working shifts, furnishing my resort, reading the reviews about it, upgrading the resort and trying hard to push the star rating from none to five.

The scuba diving is incredible, depending on your skill, you can explore different lots, and open more treasure. Find secret passages to others, search an underwater cave, collect fish and shells or embrace the attack of a cave moster or shark.

If you are lucky you can find and befriend a mermaid, increasing your bond with them enough to be invited to become a mermaid. They can go in water and on land, having the traditional tail in water and scaly legs on land. You can customise their scale colours. They are really cool, and can swim in the dive lots without having to depressurise before swimming again, and instantly master the diving skill.

The houseboats are great fun. Yes, they are a little small, but the enjoyment is worth it. Rather than swim, or take a water taxi to your destination across seas, why not boat there?

The Krakren is the giant squid sea monster that lives near Isla Paradiso. If you are boating on the miniature paddle boats, speed boats ect. And are passing through it's seas, the monster could catch your boat and eat it. With the limeted edition content, in the unlikey chance of it happening, you can use the survival pack, to survive the few days before you're rescued.

Anyway, I hope I have given you a good overview of Sims 3 Island Paradise, and if you haven't already, convinced you to play it.
