In 'Faith Off', Bart becomes a child evangelist when Homer crashes the family car in the middle of a revival meeting, while 'The Homer They Fall' sees the balding one showing he's a real heavyweight after Mo discovers that he can really take a punch. In 'Lisa on Ice', Lisa turns goalie in order to improve her gym class grade from 'F', and 'Dancin' Homer' features a tale of degradation, baseball, Mancini and a trip to the Windy Apple itself - Capital City! Also included is the special featurette, 'Good Sports Make Good Sports Good'.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons Take On Sport 21 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Although I felt that a more appropriate choice of a sporting episode from Season Eleven would have been "Saddlesore Gallactica" (the horse-racing one), this video does have a fair bit of sport in it, even though sport isn't the main theme in two of the episodes.
One such episode is Season Eleven's "Faith Off", where the main plot sees Bart becoming a faith healer after he manages to get a tight bucket off Homer's head at a show. If you think like Glenn Hoddle, you may see why a faith healer episode is on a sport video (lol), but the real sport comes when Homer's Springfield University gets ready for their homecoming American Football game against their main rivals, Springfield A&M. Homer's salute to hazing leads to Springfield Uni's top kicker losing his kicking leg, but will it also lead to a victory for the dreaded A&M?
In Season Eight's "The Homer They Fall", Homer is pummeled at Moe's, but doesn't fall down. He is diagnosed with "Homer Simpson Syndrome", meaning that he can't be knocked out, so he becomes a boxer. Whilst he can't knock anyone out, he can tire them out, and soon every boxer in Springfield falls flat in front of him. Everyone that is, apart from the formerly incarcerated Dredrick Tatum.
"Lisa On Ice" from Season Six showcases sibling rivalry on a sheet of ice. Bart is the top striker for The Mighty Pigs led by Chief Wiggum (you'd instantly think so too), and they are giving Apu's team, The Kwik-E-Mart Gougers, a big pounding with Milhouse in goal. But when Bart and Lisa have an argument after the game, in which Lisa deflects everything Bart shoots at her, Apu spots Lisa's talents, and signs her up as the new Gougers goalie.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Mixed Bag 2 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
This video begins with one of the poorest episodes of the last 2 series. It doesn't seem to have a firm plot and never really gets going.
'The Homer They Fall' is a classic, Homer becomes a boxer and fights Mike Tyson look-a-like Drederick Tatum for the world title. 'Dancin' Homer' is an old favourite but not too many laughs are to be found.
'Lisa On Ice' has one of the best comedy moments in television history. Homer trys to eat a pie with it being the pie's fault because its in the way of Homer's munching mouth, but he ends up head-butting the gril on top of the cooker where the pie is. Also Homer chasing Uter with a wet towel is not to be missed.

Another for outstanding episodes including a couple which have not been played to death on BBC, or Sky for that matter. The fav. has to be where homer is taken a s a pro boxer uner the wing of barman Moe (Kid Gorgious).
A must for everyone, although with the now stratergy of releasing the episodes in order (Box Sets) I`m going to end up with so may duplicates - but can you wait for them !
