One such episode is Season Eleven's "Faith Off", where the main plot sees Bart becoming a faith healer after he manages to get a tight bucket off Homer's head at a show. If you think like Glenn Hoddle, you may see why a faith healer episode is on a sport video (lol), but the real sport comes when Homer's Springfield University gets ready for their homecoming American Football game against their main rivals, Springfield A&M. Homer's salute to hazing leads to Springfield Uni's top kicker losing his kicking leg, but will it also lead to a victory for the dreaded A&M?
In Season Eight's "The Homer They Fall", Homer is pummeled at Moe's, but doesn't fall down. He is diagnosed with "Homer Simpson Syndrome", meaning that he can't be knocked out, so he becomes a boxer. Whilst he can't knock anyone out, he can tire them out, and soon every boxer in Springfield falls flat in front of him. Everyone that is, apart from the formerly incarcerated Dredrick Tatum.
"Lisa On Ice" from Season Six showcases sibling rivalry on a sheet of ice. Bart is the top striker for The Mighty Pigs led by Chief Wiggum (you'd instantly think so too), and they are giving Apu's team, The Kwik-E-Mart Gougers, a big pounding with Milhouse in goal. But when Bart and Lisa have an argument after the game, in which Lisa deflects everything Bart shoots at her, Apu spots Lisa's talents, and signs her up as the new Gougers goalie. Soon, a war erupts in 742 Evergreen Terrace over which child Homer loves more. It all boils down to the final seconds of the next Pigs/Gougers match, in which Bart goes head to head with Lisa in a Penalty Shot.
Finally, "Dancin' Homer" from Season Two shows Homer in his role as the mascot of the Springfield Isotopes, the town's baseball team. The show takes the form of Homer telling the story to Moe, and sees Homer helping the Isotopes onto a winning streak with his entertaining dances. This earns him a chance as a mascot for the Major League's Capital City baseball team, but cracking it in the big time is not as easy as it seems for Homer. BTW, the baseball is purely secondary in this episode, like the football in "Faith Off".
All four are fairly good episodes, but at least two don't really serve the purpose of this video. As well as "Saddlesore Gallactica" which I mentioned earlier, Season Nine's "Bart Star" would also have been a better choice for the video. Thankfully, neither "Lisa The Greek" nor "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday" were picked.
'The Homer They Fall' is a classic, Homer becomes a boxer and fights Mike Tyson look-a-like Drederick Tatum for the world title. 'Dancin' Homer' is an old favourite but not too many laughs are to be found.
'Lisa On Ice' has one of the best comedy moments in television history. Homer trys to eat a pie with it being the pie's fault because its in the way of Homer's munching mouth, but he ends up head-butting the gril on top of the cooker where the pie is. Also Homer chasing Uter with a wet towel is not to be missed.
A must for everyone, although with the now stratergy of releasing the episodes in order (Box Sets) I`m going to end up with so may duplicates - but can you wait for them !
