Product Description

Four more adventures with everyone's favourite dysfunctional animated family. In 'Homer vs Patty and Selma', Homer is forced to turn to his hated sisters-in-law Selma and Patty for financial assistance, while Bart enrols in the school's ballet class - ay carumba! 'Marge vs the Monorail' sees Marge taking the moral stance (as usual) against the new Springfield monorail. In 'Homer vs Lisa and the 8th Commandment', Homer hooks up to cable TV illegally, and Lisa forces him to confront his conscience - doh! 'Bart vs Australia' sees Bart causing an international incident which earns him the wrath of Australia's Prime Minister. Can his family save him?

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 fantastic episodes 29 Dec 2004
Format:DVD
This is a must have for every Simpsons fan. These 4 episodes or hilarious.
Homer vs Patty and Selma:
In this episode Homer is low on money and turns to Patty and Selma for money (Homer doesn'y want to let Marge down) as they just got promoted. For this to happen he has to do things for Patty and Selma which nobody would like to do. When Homer refuses to do something for them, they give a hint to Marge about the debt. Truly a great episode
Marge vs The Monorail:
When Springfield recieve a bunch of money to spend on the city, they end up spending it on a monorail for Springfield. When Marge finds out that wherever else the dealer has sold them, they always crashed and the city was abandoned. It's up to Marge, and the tag along man she gets, to not let that happen to Springfield. Another brilliant episode
Homer vs Lisa and the 8th Commandment:
Lisa becomes obssessed about the 8th comandment, 'Thou shall not steal', and gets impatient with Homer when he gets free cable and when Marge steals 2 grapes from a supermarket though she makes Marge pay. Lisa seeks reverand Lovejoy's help on what is and what is not stealing. Yet again a brilliant episode.
Bart vs Australia:
Bart is anxious to find out which way the water flows in toilets and sinks etc. in Australia as he wants to prove they both go the same way round. After phoning up and leaving the line on all night, Homer gets a huge phone bill and so does the Australian man. Bart is made to go to Australia to opologize to them but there is more which the Australians did not say, he has to get a kick up the backside. A truly great episode.

So if your a Simpsons fan, buy this for sure as these episodes are hilarious and you will be laughing your head off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clearest theme yet... 21 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
The Simpsons Vs The World, so clearly, this means all four episodes feature certain rivalries! So far by my understanding, there have been nine Vs episodes in the history of The Simpsons, and a tenth is due for the new Season Twelve next year.

"Homer Vs Patty & Selma" from Season Six focuses on Homer and his failed pumpkin investment. To settle his life savings after the pumpkins failed to sell at Halloween, Homer manages to get a loan from Patty & Selma, but he wants them to keep the deal a secret from Marge and ends up waiting on them hand and foot. Eventually, Patty & Selma blab to Marge, and Homer is forced to take a second job as a limo driver (with Mel Brooks in the back). Once Homer is pulled over by Chief Wiggum for not having a licence, he has to apply for one... from Patty & Selma. Meanwhile, Bart misses out on picking a class for Gym, and has to do Ballet (with Susan Sarandon playing the teacher) and ends up being good at it.

In Season Four's "Marge Vs The Monorail", Mr Burns is fined $3m for dumping toxic waste, and the money is spent on a new Monorail service for Springfield. Everyone in the town supports it, except for Marge. Whilst Homer takes a job as a Monorail driver, Marge furthers her protests, and discovers that the franchise seller, Lyle Lanley, purposely builds faulty equipment so that he can take the money. He is eventually exposed, but will it be in time for Springfield to prevent the chaos?

Season Two's "Homer Vs Lisa & The 8th Commandment" shows The Simpson family installing an illegal cable hook-up into the home. Lisa learns about the Ten Commandments, and sees the 8th Commandment, "Thou Shalt Not Steal" - leading to her campaigning against Homer's cable viewing. The new cable gains Homer his biggest popularity yet, particularly when the biggest boxing bout in history is available only on cable. Will Lisa's views prevent Homer from witnessing boxing history?

Finally, "Bart Vs Australia" from Season Six sees Bart make a prank collect phone call to an Australian boy in order to enquire whether or not the toilet water flushes the other way round in the southern hemisphere. The Australian Government notice the young boy's phone bill, and immediately summon Bart to court in Australia on charges of fraud. But upon conclusion of the episode, Bart causes more chaos than intended...

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Good Vid 29 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
A mixed bunch of rather lamely tied together episodes, which are all pretty good in there own right. 'Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment' is a classic, as Homer illegally gets cable, much to Lisa's dismay; 'Marge vs. the Monorail' is one of the best episodes ever, with a superb guest appearance from one Leonard Nimoy ("My work here is done"), and a great one-off character in Phil "Troy McClure" Hartman's Lyle Lanly, and the all time classic Monorail song! 'Bart vs. Australia' features the Simpsons heading to the outback, where toilets flush the wrong way, and no one seems to know what a frog is! 'Homer vs. Patty and Selma' is perhaps the weakest episode on this video, with Bart learning ballet.
