Product Description

Collection of three documentaries following Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal as he attempts to track down a number of fugitive war criminals so that he can bring them to justice for crimes against humanity. 'Genocide' (1982) is narrated by Elizabeth Taylor and Orson Welles and focuses on the Holocaust. 'Liberation' (1994) is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Ben Kingsley and Patrick Stewart and explores the Allies' campaign to liberate Europe in World War II. Finally, 'Long Way Home' (1997) is narrated by Morgan Freeman and examines the post-war period from 1945-1948 and the plight of the thousands of refugees who survived the Holocaust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Important Collection 30 Jun 2010
By Volvi
Format:DVD
Seems I may have got the last set from Amazon, I hope they re-stock this item as it is an important collection. I got a number of Holocaust Box Sets but this one is a bit different. Its all encompassing and has varied themes not just holocaust alone. I have an extensive knowledge on this subject matter but still learned alot more from this series. I highly recommend this collection to any student of the Holocaust and beyond. It ends off with "The Long Way Home" giving understanding in the founding of the modern State of Israel, her 3rd Commonwealth. All in all very educational and dont mistake its title as only to do with Simon Weisenthal, far from it.

The 8 DVD's are well packed in a box (bit thin) but good enough for the job.

UPDATE:

There appears to be two different boxsets by the same name. One described as 3 disc which I believe is incorrectly described, the other has 8 discs. Seeing neither seems no longer available, I believe you may still be able to purchase them individually. As the boxset that I bought contained the 8 individually cased DVD's. The titles of which are as follows:

"Genocide" Narated by Elizabeth Taylor & Orson Welles
"Echoes That Remain" Narated by Martin Landau & Miriam Margoyles
"Ever Again" Narated by Kevin Costner
"Unlikely Heroes" Narated by Sir Ben Kingsley
"In Search Of peace" Narated by Michael Douglas
"I Have Never Forgotten You" Narated by Nicole Kidman
"Liberaton" Narated by Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Ben Kingsley & Patrick Stewart
"The Long Way Home" Narated by Morgan Freeman

I hope this is of help to anyone wanting the boxset but find they are no longer available, yet can obtain them individually.

Shalom Shalom.
