Product Description

Miss Eleanor Grantham is first outraged, then astonished when her stagecoach is held up by the Earl of Silverton. Why would a wealthy nobleman stoop to highway robbery? a hero to die for 23 May 2004
Format:Hardcover
Amanda Grange's heroes are to die for, and Lucien is the best. Like all Amanda Grange novels (I haven't read the first one), there's a fast-paced adventure here: Eleanor's sister is on the verge of marrying a Duke, and is being blackmailed with some letters she wrote when she was still in the schoolroom. When the book opens, Eleanor is following the blakcmailer to London in an effort to buy back the letters. The coach is held up by a highwayman, and when Eleanor breaks her journey at a friend's house she is introduced to Lucien, Lord Silverton, and realizes that he is the highwayman.
What he was doing in disguise forms one mystery of the book. Murder forms another. There's action, humor, and a fantasic tension between hero and heroine that reminds me of the sort of tension you get between characters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No gratuitous sex scenes, but you're never in any doubt that these two are mad for each other. And who can blame Eleanor for wanting Lucien? The girl has taste!

I have read other books by Amanda Grange and enjoyed them, but none as much as The Silverton Scandal. Here she has got the balance between adventure and romance just right, and created a wonderful hero and great heroine. A really good read!
