Book Description

Feb 2003 Harlequin Historical (Book 648)
Fan Winslow appeared to be the prim and proper housekeeper of Feversham Hall. In actuality she was the leader of a notorious smuggling gang! Captain Lord George Claremont was duty-bound to stop any illegal activity on his property...even if the villain was a mysterious beauty no man could resist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shades of "Frenchman's Creek" 24 Sep 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This was a nice twist on the regency-period historical romances that are so popular, with the characters involved with smuggling along the foggy coastline instead of going to Bath. Think Daphne Du Maurier instead of Georgette Heyer. Strong believable characters, with a minimum of nattering. You don't see many noble heros that are navy officers, which was a nice twist, and it's refreshing to have a heroine worrying about earning her living, too. Lots of plot twists kept me interested, and pretty decent love scenes. Good job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent romance 29 April 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Miranda Jarrett writes another superb romance in THE SILVER LORD. Her stories are always of the highest quality, and this one demonstrates why she has a great reputation for strong characters, convincing romance, and for sheer quality of writing. Fan Winslow is an independent, spirited heroine who hides the desperate secret of her smuggling activities from the hero, whose strength and confidence, and wry sense of humor, makes him very sexy. So far I've read just about everything that Ms. Jarrett has written, and I've enjoyed every one of her stories. Her characters are complex, sympathetic, and sexy, with convincing, fascinating motives and deep emotions, and her books are intelligently crafted. If you like high quality in romance, you'll love THE SILVER LORD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical romance at its best 29 April 2003
By "booklover2222" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I don't usually post reviews for books, but when I sawthe other one posted for this book, I had to post my own.We couldn't have read thesame books! Miranda Jarrett always writes a really good historical romance, adn thoughI was surprised to see her writing for Harlequin romances, the SILVER LORD is no exception. This book has wonderful characters, an unusual setting for a regency book, and plenty of action. She reminds me of Jo Beverly, another author I greatly admire and like. I would recccomend this book highly to anyone who is looking for a great read, and Jarret's other longer books, too.
