A disappointing portrayal of one of Scotland's finest literary talents. In my opinion everyone should read at least one Neil Gunn book to improve their understanding of life for highland fishing communities in the early 20th century. This depicts the cast in a very unbelievable way. The female lead appears repeatedly well dressed, immaculately made up, not a hair out of place and, like all the cast, well fed [despite an outbreak of cholera]. All this despite the hardship and lack of facilities. Most people are all lovey dovey, well behaved and kind desite the ir struggle. If you want to learn a believable representation of life in thankfully bygone days now don't watch this.
