Another interesting storyline ... but please resolve love triangle as its starting to get tedious. Yes I know it is in a future novel but it was a mild irritant for me and distracting from the plot at times.

Love this series and will continue on the journey with Hester and Monk! As always the detail and the writing are superb.

Once again in Victorian England with William Monk, Hester Latterly and Oliver Rathbone and never too much. The prudish and apparently moral bound victorian society hides many devious aspects, among them prostitution. Hipocrisy is the key word and crime could and should be overlooked according to some. Not for Monk and Hester who will find the awful truth beneath the strict rules and the paramount virtue of pretending not to see, not to hear and not to speak. The Silent Cry is all the more powerful because of that.
However, I would like to know how is it possible that Dr. Riley could not find the truth before Hester does at the end of the book. That does not make much sense.
It seems the only flaw in an otherwise extraordinary book where you will be shaken out of your silence.

The William Monk series is generally really entertaining and this was no exception. It was challenging right to the end and a thoroughly good read

I have been following Anne Perry as an author for years and love how she writes about Victorian England. I love Hester and Monk as well as the other characters she writes about The Pitts.
