Product Description

Product Description

Cage Reynolds wanted to die.

Having survived two world wars, the death of his wife, and innumerable suicide attempts, Cage is lonely and depressed. He has a secret, one that defies modern science, and his life is not as it seems. He's 169 years old, and he cannot die.

On the day that he is pushed in front of a bus by a mysterious man, Cage meets Clementine, a lively young woman who knows more about Cage than she is letting on. She works for Constance Sullivan, a wealthy businesswoman who trades in antiquities. When Cage is lured into Constance's world, he sees something that even he can hardly believe--something that changes his life forever.

More About the Author

Jasen Quick grew up in Abingdon, near historic Oxford and spent most of his teenage years riding his bike around the city, photographing the architecture. At fifteen his family moved to the West Country.

From an early age, Jasen wanted to be a writer but the need to find paying work led him into training as an electrician instead. In 1998, he wrote a feature for The Times (London) and a brief career as a features writer for an independent Internet magazine followed. During this time, Jasen started writing fiction as a hobby but was never completely satisfied with his creations.

Having spent five years teaching at an adult education centre, Jasen now spends his days dressed as a Victorian, giving historical talks.

In 2010, he completed his first novel, The Significant Deaths of Cage and Constance, which was published by Etopia press on the 18th of November 2011.

He lives with his wife, Zoe, and their three children. In his spare time, Jasen likes to play the drums, read books and listen to rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complex and Compelling Story 6 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the stunning cover onwards, I was hooked on this story. It is hard to categorise it in any one genre as there are elements of historical, paranormal, romance and more besides but Jasen Quick weaves plot and characters deftly to create a highly visual and, at times, very moving story.I loved the development of the two eponymous characters - Cage and Constance - as well as another key character, Clemmie. When I finished the last page, I still wanted more, so that's always a good sign! I believe this is the author's first novel. I shall definitely be buying his second.
