About the Author

Chris Wraight is the author of the Space Wolves novel Battle of the Fang. He has also written Schwarzhelm & Helborg: Swords of the Emperor and Luthor Huss in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. He doesn't own a cat, dog, or augmented hamster (which technically disqualifies him from writing for Black Library), but would quite like to own a tortoise one day. He's based in a leafy bit of south-west England, and when not struggling to meet deadlines enjoys running through scenic parts of it.

I've always enjoyed Horus heresy Audio Dramas, they give a little more insight to the main story series but with more drama, music and sound effects.

It's a good story, though not one of my favourites, I still highly recommend it

The best part (in my opinion) of any Warhammer 40k story is how it expands the shared world just a little bit more.
This one is no different, in fact it might actually be the best of those sort of stories. We're fed a few hints about past adventures, we're given a grand view of (relatively) peace-time Terra and the role of the Sigillite is explored.
Above all else, we're given a great new story. Something gripping which pays off with a great "no way, they can't be talking about the [SPOILER] can they? GOOD GRIEF They are!" moment (another thing I love is how our history is myth in the 30th millennium and beyond, this really panders to that love).

Basically, if you like a gripping story not about the Astartes, then this is for you.
If you want to see another side of the Machiavellian Malcador, then this is for you.
If you want something that is so obviously setting up another avenue for stories (a la "Know No Fear" setting up a huge ongoing storyline on Calth or "Flight of the Eisenstein" setting up a truly massive and universe changing storyline around Nathaniel Garro (hint: they've been dubbed "Grey Knights")) then this is for you.

Not a huge amount of action (though a decent amount) but a lot of really interesting stuff about what lurks in the vaults of the imperial palace, and who Malcador really is. Well written and not too short like some of the audiobooks in the series. Essential for the serious 40K fan.

This story is good but there is 30 seconds of bliss which is the aftermath of magnus the red`s trip to terra.
The main man is not mentioned but you just know its him dealing with the aftermath.

We all know that Malcador sits in the middle of the imperial web during the Heresy, weaving the future of the Imperium. This story gives some insight into why & how. Top class production.
