The cover with its otherworldly three suns in the sky is actually faithful to the story, but if you think you are getting a book of science fiction, you would be wrong. The story is set squarely among very real people in the late 90s: the only strange thing about the lives of Julius Aylward (13) and Jack Aylward (12) is that though they are second cousins they have never heard of each other's existence until the funeral of their great-grandfather. The reason for this is a family feud that began 50 years ago and that no-one now living seems to really understand. The boys team up to elucidate the mystery, and the book is a very pleasant read that involves good sleuthing and ley lines, the Bodleian Library, iron age forts and a badly misfiring practical joke. It would be a good idea to read the book at one sitting, so as to keep the names and dates of the various family members straight in your head. But otherwise it is straightforward reading - not even a subplot in sight!
