Book Description

The world ended in less than a day. An ancient evil relegated to the most ancient of myths and legends has returned. The dead rose to consume the flesh of the living and only the lucky and the strong were able to survive the initial onslaught. Three groups of survivors must come together and unite against an army of the dead, lead by a dark priest and his human followers who are looking to find the key to opening the barriers between worlds and turn the Earth into a true realm of the dead.

Liam Harrison is a former Special Forces soldier and current spook for the NSA. As the dead rise, he races to warn his estranged family and save as many people sheltered at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as he can before the dead breach the barriers and turn the temporary refuge into an abattoir.

Kyle Carson was one of the directionless slackers that seemed to typify the current generation of young adults. When the dead rose he found himself trapped at his place of employment with friends and enemies alike. Even if he and his best friend manage to escape the tightening noose of the dead surrounding the store they will still need to locate those they love and find some place, any place that is safe from the dead.

Dr. Lisa Sutton survived two tours in the sands of Afghanistan only to return to a position at the University of Michigan ER just in time for the dead to rise. As command and control breaks down it is up to the reserve Army Captain to take command of the situation and prepare the survivors at the school for a long trek to safety in the states upper peninsula.

Sherriff David Marshall is usually only concerned with keeping the peace in the small town of White Harbor Michigan. But when the dead rise and the town is cut off from the state and federal governments, if they even still exist, David and the council of the town are saddled with protecting the people of the county from the dead and the living.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead moon rising... 2 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Shores Of The Dead: The Rising is the first book in an epic new Zombie trilogy that attempts to take the genre in a whole new, different direction and largely succeeds in doing so.

On a remote Caribbean island, a visiting eccentric Professor is not all he seems. Deep in the heart of a long forgotten cave, he attempts to manipulate his young lover and Research Assistant into waking an ancient evil but when she becomes wise to his scheme and tries to foil his plans, she is only partially successful. Before long, all across the globe, the recently dead begin to rise to feast on the living and from that moment on, it quickly becomes self evident that nothing will ever be the same again!

Dr.Lisa Sutton, working at a University E.R after leaving Afghanistan, begins to have bizarre dreams of her sister warning her that something is....coming. When the Zombies attack, she and a small group of survivors head off to find some kind of civilization still standing....

Liam Harrison, a former N.S.A Agent, is pulled half-way across the State from White River Bio-Research Centre to help find a solution to the Undead problem but is quickly abandoned as non-essential personnel. His only goal becomes to return to White River and ensure the safety of his daughter and grand-child...

Meanwhile, College student Kyle faces his own problems when he becomes trapped in a Toys-R-Us store, surrounded by Zombies...

All these separate stories quickly come together to form a single, cohesive narrative. And as the ancient evil that began all this exerts its influence, the Zombies begin to form under the control of a single, crazed leader determined to locate the one person who stands in the way of a complete and total apocalypse.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok effort that nearly blows it from the start 31 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a bit of a frustrating read as it veers from competent and at times engrossing zombie fiction to a very poorly written and cliched effort in the blink of an eye. For the most part it's ok though and the army of the dead thing could turn either into a masterstroke or a disaster , I'm not sure yet.

But (and this is a huge but) that opening! Oh fear god that opening is one of the most poorly written and utterly ludicrous openings to any book I've read. It's so bad it actually nearly made me give up which would have been a shame. It's badly written with terrible grammar and sentence structure almost as though it was added at the last minute. Utter bilge. Good job it picked up from there and the editing got better afterwards thank god!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable and different 14 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this book to be based on an interesting premise as to the source of the 'Risen Dead' and certainly takes parts of the story into different areas from that normally associated with tales of this genre.
Good characterisation within a strong background plot with several good sub plots lurking at the same time. Most enjoyable and I am now on to the second book in the series courtesy of Amazon Prime.
