More About the Author

Ellee Seymour is an author, ghost writer and PR consultant. The Shop Girls is Ellee's first book as an author. It was a joy for her to research and write this heartwarming true story about a glamorous bygone era based on an elegant ladies department store in Cambridge which closed 49 years ago and had all but faded from living memory, with its very own Mr Selfridge-styled character as the boss who the shop girls either loved or loathed. Ellee lives near Cambridge.
Ellee was also the ghost writer for Dennis McKenzie's book, Being The Soham Psychic, published in 2009.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Shops Girls - Excellent read 13 Oct 2014
Format:Paperback
Such a shame the Hayworth's family are no longer here to witness such a well written book by Ellee Seymour from accounts of some of the staff who worked at the Department Store. I couldn't put this book down it was a real page turner Ellee really captured the different era's/years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book 19 Nov 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you've worked in retail you will love this book. Starts in the wartime up till 1960's and follows the lives of four shop girls. It shows their home life and how it was back then - possibly in most department stores at the time. If your a fan of Mr Selfridge you will love this. I worked foe The John Lewis partnership in the 1970's 80's and kept returning.... a deal good update at the e d on the girls....thank you...loved it !

Enjoyable and easy reading. Characters quite diverse but a good mixture of backgrounds. Can't believe how accommodating their boss was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cambridge nostalgia 4 Nov 2014
Format:Paperback
This delightful book captures the period and post period of the war years. Apart from the striving ambitions of the shop girls, it also depicts the lives of ordinary people. For me particularly this book paints an image of a Cambridge now sadly gone.

A Cambridge resident. Wendy Craig
