I bought this 5 track EP on the strength of their live performance which - even sans a drummer that night - still impressed me enough to check them out further and I was definitely not disappointed. Listening to 'The Shipping Forecast' one is struck by how appropriate their name actually is - this is definitely the record to play on a rainy Autumnal day; the sparse yet lush arrangements and wistful vocals all provide something of an auditory comfort blanket. The lead guitar is restrained / frenetic at the right times and the rhythm section throughout are as tight as a duck's arse.
I'm going to veer away from stating musical reference points for a good reason. These days, with the rise of NME acclaimed Bloc Party sound-a-likes and 80s throwbacks, there's really not enough British bands out there carving out their own sound which Autumnkind have certainly achieved here in just a short time of being together. Looking at their myspace page, I note that they're playing the Water Rats in Kings Cross in late August. If you're in the neighbourhood, I would strongly urge you to check them out.

I love this EP, especially Another Day, it never fails to put me in a good mood, and since buying it its been playing a lot in my house. All of the songs, however, i can put on repeat and not get bored of.
Ive been and seen them live too, which is definitely not a disappointment (unlike other bands ive seen that just dont have the same vibe live as they do recorded) and have since introduced them to my friends, who are similarly impressed!
Hope to hear a lot more from the guys in the future, they get a massive 5/5 from me!
