Will leave you with pains in your cheeks from laughing (RTÉ Guide on The Oh My God Delusion)

Ross's misadventures and on-the-nose observations never fail to provoke a laugh-out-loud reaction ... bursting at the seams with spot-on parody (Irish Times)

Product Description

After his brush with death Ross O'Carroll-Kelly - schools rugby legend, award-winning author and lover of the ladeez - is back with a renewed lust for life - all thrillingly revealed in The Shelbourne Ultimatum.

Ross wakes up from his coma to find a country that has changed beyond recognition. Shrewsbury Road has become a ghost estate. Marks and Spencer are selling microwavable coddle. And a Euro discount store is about to open in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. And he was only unconscious for twenty-four hours.

But never mind all that. The main thing is that whoever tried to kill him missed all his vital organs. All his vital organs. And having had such a lucky escape Ross vows not to waste another minute of his life. There are thousands of women out there and just one Ross to go around. He needs to focus.

Of course, life gets in the way. He has a daughter who hates him, a son who is growing up way too fast and a soon-to-be-ex wife who is resorting to increasingly desperate measures to stop the bank from repossessing the house. Oh, and the Gords - get this! - think he's lying to them.

Lying? Ross?

The last of these was chosen as Ireland's favourite book in Eason's 125th birthday poll.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pant-Wettingly Funny 15 Oct 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Paul Howard reached a point a few books back that I thought he was just 'phoning-it-in' (around the time of 'Rhino what you did last summer.) The characters were getting stale and in arbitrary situations with dodgy plots. I wondered whether he could keep the series up. However, with his last two books, (especially this one) he is definitely back on form in a big way. This book is just ridiculously funny. My wife started getting hacked off with me waking her up as I nearly choked from laughter. The plot is brilliant, kept me reading til the early hours. Howard is peerless in his use of hilarious metaphors and similes. Will he ever run out? I still struggle now and again with some of the Irish names and references, but I'm getting more used to them. I've read every single book of this series, and just hope Paul Howard continues it. It's the only (fiction) book series I get excited about when a new one being released. I'd be really interested to see what else he has in store for Ross. I really like how he's developed the character over the years. I can thoroughly recommend this book - it will have you crying with laughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars UnPutdownable!! 29 Oct 2012
By Elaine
Format:Paperback
Ross is testing people's patience to the very limit! One stupid cringe under the duvet incident after another but Ross never fails to amuse! Another great addition to the epIc life and times of Rosser in a very current climate.

5.0 out of 5 stars As funny as ever! 12 Oct 2012
By David
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Sure, there are themes that repeat themselves (womanising, pet killing etc!) but if you love the previous ROCK books, you'll love this one too. If you hated them, or him, then this one isn't going to change your mind.

Ross's 'Dortspeak' has evolved, keeping up to date with the changing vocab in South Co. Dublin. Ronan is growing up, and there are plenty of changes happening to keep much of the story keeping fresh.

I really enjoyed it. Totes.

What's the next book going to be called? "50 Shades of Bray"?
