Product Description

Product Description

The garden shed is an icon of national identity, and holds a special place in the hearts of British men. Often described as a sanctuary from the outside world and the other half, a man's shed begins where a boy's bedroom leaves off, allowing him space for the prized objects and boyish dreams there is seldom room for inside the house. In this book, authors Gordon Thorburn and Gareth Jones delve into the sheds of British blokes to discover the personalities and passions hidden within. These sheds are home to workshops crammed with strange inventions, soda siphon collections, a reptile house, cinema and even a funeral directors. A must for every shed-lover, or anyone who has ever lost their partner at the end of the garden, this charming book celebrates the enduring appeal of a very British obsession, the shed.

Great - but be warned 16 July 2010
This is an excellent and entertaining wee book, however buyers should be warned that it is an amalgamation of Thorburn's "Men and Sheds" and Jones' "Shed Men" so don't buy all three as I did!

"SHEDDING" 24 Aug 2011
By Pammie
I purchased The Shed Book to give to a friend. I only had time to thumb through it briefly, but it is just the sort of book I wish someone would give to me. It was very funny, touching and I loved the way it depicted so many different characters - all with an interest in sheds. All very different type sheds too. Was very pleased with my purchase and so was the my friend.
