Product Description

Product Description

This new oracle created by modern-day shaman John Matthews and shamanic artist Wil Kinghan will prove to be one of the most exciting and powerful divinatory systems of the decade. The pack includes a deck of 52 cards, a fold-out chart showing positions to lay the cards around a human handprint, and an 80-page book on how to use this revelatory new card reading method to chart your personal journey. The handprint is ingeniously related to the cave dweller's world, each finger representing a cave, home to one of five tribes. The 52 cards are divided into five groupings corresponding to these tribes - Spirits, Ancestors, Hunters, Dancers and Shamans - each representing a different aspect of human experience. Two further cards - the Journeyer and the Helper - represent the person who is conducting the reading: the Seeker. As the cards are drawn and placed on the chart, they reveal insights that will help to guide the Seeker on his or her quest for the answers to life's most vital questions. The images are not only beautiful, atmospheric and mysterious, but they also touch on the deepest memories we all possess - the unconscious archetypes that influence our thoughts, feelings and actions at the deepest level of being. Universal in its messages (cave art is found all over the world, in Europe, China, the Americas and Australia), this deck has the power to reveal and refine your destiny.

Lovely cards 14 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
I've used Oracle cards before, and have tried Tarot, but didn't really get on with either. This system uses aspects of both, creating an in-depth reading that is pretty accurate and at the same time easier to interpret. I've only had the set a few days so have not got fully to grips with it yet, but the art's beautiful and the explanations simple and easy to follow. Anyone connected to nature, history, myth and the ancestors should love these cards, they're a great addition to any crane pouch or medicine bag.
The only thing I didn't like quite so much was the fold-out lay-out poster, it cheapened the set somewhat, but it's easy enough to make your own cloth one to replace it, which I shall be doing.

This set of cards is such a gorgeous creation. The images sing to your soul and so do the words. Everytime I use them I receive such insight and wisdom - which is what you need from an oracle set! Both of the creators are clearly masters of their craft and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking to go within and find answers to their questions.

I really liked the idea of these cards, they are packaged beautifully, come with a lovely color book and are well presented. The cards are well make with thick card which is well coated. I just didn't connect with the images, I felt the artwork was a bit of a let down being what I felt was computer generated graphics. I think it was a shame the artist didn't use a more traditional method as it would have felt more soulful so that's why I only gave this deck 3-stars, if it were re-issued with more artistic and earthy art work then I am sure I would be able to connect to them on a deeper level. I would recommend decks such as Shamanic Oracle (Tabletalk Conversation Cards) which these cards seemed to be based upon but the artwork seems more real. Or even WHITE EAGLE MEDICINE WHEEL DECK which are very different but still a lovely working deck.
