4.0 out of 5 stars a trips down imagination road review 6 Sep 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a copy of The Sexy & The Undead in exchange for my review.

Its Valentines Day and Ella realises that once again she doesn't have a date...probably because of her pet zombie, Freddie. When she casts a spell for a perfect man it blows up in her face, and Samuel is drawn down from the heavens. Exactly the man that she'd wanted. Samuel knows that she's cast a spell, but that isn't what keeps him coming back for more of Ella, though she isn't too sure of that. But Samuel isn't sure what to make of Freddie, but Samuel's friend (and Pixie) Tam seems to have taken a shine to him.

If you're looking for a short and fun read with a little bit of steam then this is a book for you! There was a limited cast, but what there was of them were explored well and felt like real people (well real people with magic powers).

There was a bit of a mystery in The Sexy & The Undead in working out the relationship between Ella and Freddie. I actually had it figured out a while before it was revealed and just wanted to call Samuel and idiot (but ten the story wouldn't have worked so well!). Though I would have liked to see more of Freddie after his curse was lifted (though this is only book 1 so there hopefully will be more Freddie!)

What was particularly interesting in the relationship between Samuel and Ella was how long their relationship took. Instead of rushing into it, or jumping into bed, they seemed to almost date each other (I say almost because it was at Ella's house mostly) and got to know each other first. Though they were attracted to each other and did act on that, and when they did there was a lot of passion and chemistry between them!

There are some mysteries still left, I still don't really fully understand what Samuel is, and I hope I can find out more in future books. Also I want to know what is going on with Tam and Freddie! I really want to read more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Unique, and Exciting! 5 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
"The Sexy & The Undead" by Charity Parkerson is a light-hearted, witty romance novel. The setting is imaginary, but the characters feel very real, despite (or because of?) the fact that they are witches, zombies and angels. They are well-drawn, interesting, memorable, and unique.

The seemingly unlikely but fun, steamy, and very real romance is between Ella and Samuel, a witch and an angel. That's exciting enough for most readers, right? But not exciting enough by Charity Parkerson's standards, so she adds Freddie in the mix. He's a secondary but important character. Freddie is Ella's pet zombie, and there's a problem with a curse that needs to be lifted before the story moves forward, or at least before the story moves forward in a way that would satisfy Ella. And she is not easy to satisfy.

What I enjoyed most about this book is the intersection and interweaving of the two stories: romance between Ella and Samuel, and Freddie's curse story. And, of course, the humor is always a great addition to a story. Here are a couple of my favorite lines:

"The light is for guidance and transcendence. But the dark is for protection and passion."

"I say we go fix up your room and make it all fit for your deliciousness again."

"I am pouring my heart out to you while you call me names and throw things at my head."

A fun story! Much more than just a romance novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sexy & The Undead 24 Sep 2013
By james
Format:Kindle Edition
While cooking up a date for Valentine's Day, Ella Perry manages to pull an angel down from the heavens. However, Samuel the Dark is not angelic in the least.
Accompanied by his sidekick, Tam, Samuel finds that he cannot stay away from the quirky Ella, and he does everything he can think of to help her in her quest to find a cure for her zombie, Freddie.
Along with his growing attraction to Ella, Samuel's jealousy of Ella and Freddie's relationship also begins to grow.
Crazy characters, wild adventures, and a series of unfortunate events makes this book completely hilarious. A great start to a new series.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a party! 6 Sep 2013
Format:Paperback
Some books are a party, and The Sexy & The Undead (Sexy Witches) by Charity Parkerson is certainly one the wildest. And when I say party, it means; cool and unusual characters, lots of humor, some rumor and romance, a bit of hot sex, (maybe more than a bit). And did I mention the unusual characters are very unusual, as in angels, fairies, pixies, witches, and zombies. As with any good party, the rest of the gossip can only be had if you actually go to the party. And I recommend that you do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex, Potions and Zombies, what a Concoction 4 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Again not the type of book i usually read, but it did initially have elements i like fantasy and zombies. Great characters Ella, Samuel, Freddie and Tam. even Randel was an interesting character also. This story had humor was well written and can't wait for a next part in the series, lately this and a few others are swaying my views on a lot of books that i'm liking as there's more to these book than just descriptive sexual encounters especially when their well written by people like this.
definitely enjoyable and most rightly deserving of this 5* review, so glad i was gifted this book by Charity to read and review for her but now i want more....
