Product Description

When a bomb explodes at a birth-control clinic and a young client turns up dead, Detective Jackson is assigned both cases. But are they connected? Kera, the clinic nurse who discovers that the girl's Bible group is really a sexual free-for-all, thinks they are. But confidentiality keeps her from telling the police, so she digs for the truth on her own and becomes the bomber's new target. Soon another girl is murdered. Can Jackson uncover the killer's shocking identity in time to stop the slaughter?

"A thrilling, eye-opening read." —Mystery Scene magazine

“A well-plotted suspenseful tale with a pulse-pounding ending.”—Midwest Book Review

“I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The characters were compelling, the procedural work was dead-on, and the story was enthralling. Definitely recommended.”—Michelle Gagnon, author of Boneyard

“The Sex Club is a must read!”—Seattle Mystery Bookshop

The Sex Club 10 Jan 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
Dont start reading this book when you have things to do. Once you start reading you cannot put it down. It is not my usual choice of book but after reading other reviews I thought i would give it a try. I am now going to download other books by this author, especially the Detective Jackson Mysteries. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

An Engrossing Read 9 Nov 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
I love mysteries. I usually return to old favorites like Agatha Christie and Rex Stout because I haven't found anyone to replace them. L.J. Sellers' characters don't have Poirot and Miss Marples endearing foibles, nor do they have the quirky relationship between those two eccentrics, Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin.

What they have is a dynamic story behind them to make them believable and sympathetic. Detective Jackson is no supercop. He's a guy who knows police work and how to investigate a murder. He could be any homicide detective on any police force in the country who follows the trail from point alpha to point omega. For that alone, I was glad to ride along with him.

Sellers' style is clean and straightforward and leads you quickly from one page to another. Maybe too quickly. The Kindle Edition is over 5K locations and I felt like I whizzed through the story.

There is more than one mystery here, but Sellers never over-complicates the story or takes it in too many directions at once. I found the ending very satisfying, although I have to wonder what "God's Messenger" will be up to in the future.

I've already downloaded the next Detective Jackson mystery and look forward to starting it tonight.

Pretty good read 15 Nov 2010
By Jenni
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book, I found the characters well developed and all the different storylines and angles certainly kept me guessing "whodunit" until near the end. I think that the author writes really well and what I really liked was that although the story and characters are set in Oregon, America and everything felt, well, American, it wasn't overly so - sometimes when I read books by american authors I feel like I'm missing half the story 'cos I don't understand all the "in-jokes" and banter.

The story revolves around quite a sensitive subject which I think is handled really well - you get the picture but there is nothing too graphic and the author did not try to push me in any particular direction, instead letting me make up my own mind.

Why did I not give it 5 stars?
1) I find it a little hard to believe in this day and age that so many minors can be taken out of class and questioned by a single police officer not only without their parents present but also without their parents knowledge or consent? One of the minors was actually taken away from the school by Det. Jackson to search for another one and no-one at the school was informed!
2) The evidence found at the very end. Can't go into details without a spoiler but I find it hard to believe that it would have been found intact.

Other than that it was a really good read and I will be looking out for and purchasing further books by this author

Well crafted
This is a fast moving Detective novel, though arguably the main character is not the detective but Kera, the nurse who works at a Planned Parenthood clinic. Read more
