So what makes this film five stars? In a nutshell, 'the ten minute car chase!'. The cars involved are a 73 Pontiac Grand Ville and a 73 Pontiac Ventura Sprint, they both look great as they speed through Uptown New York across the GWB and into the beyond. The bonus is that you'll see all the other period vehicles, including the Plymouth police cars and if you look carefully a Hillman Hunter (Sunbeam Vogue/Arrow?) sneaks in! It's certainly as good as the chases in 'Bullitt', 'The French Connection', 'Ronin', 'The Blues Brothers', 'Robbery', 'Dirty Mary Crazy Larry' and any other film you care to mention.

70's scenario. 27 Jun 2008
Format:DVD
There are a few overlooked movies from the 70s. This is one. Produced by the same producer behind french connection, this has some of the same structure, for example a great car chase. The 70s atmosphere, Roy Scheiders part, the clothing, the setting in the streets of new york & generally the feeling that they don't make movies like this anymore, gives this movie an edge. Great stuff in my humble opinion. If you like this, checkout french connection 1 +2 & bullitt.

A taut and uncompromising crime thriller with Roy Scheider in the lead role as tough NYC cop Buddy Manucci who leads a small unit of officers known as The Seven-Ups because they can put away villains for seven years or over. However, their integrity is brought into doubt when they are accused of robbing the city's Mafiosi, so Manucci and his buddies use strong-arm tactics to hunt down the real culprits. There are some very powerful scenes such as Manucci "interrogating" an injured mobster inside a hospital and him and his partners breaking into another gangster's house. Special mention must also go to Richard Lynch and stunt driver Bill Hickman as the two main bad guys Moon and Bo. Watch out for Stallone regular Joe Spinell, too.

Of course, this has a fantastic car chase and an exciting final showdown. All in all, this is an intensely satisfying cross between Dirty Harry and The French Connection.

The Seven ups
Arrived well packaged and on time. The product was in good condition. Film was good, not as good as I had hoped for, but was well worth a watch.

Do you like a good car chase?
This is an under rated car chase movie, great performances from the cast and cars. Possibly the greatest car chase movie in film history and it stars Roy Scheider, it's a classic.
