'Ask after the seven,' is one of the enchanting phrases within this wonderful little book. If you love myth, (especially from the Mabinogian),mystery, strong characters and an exciting quest, then you should definitely ask after this 'Seven.' For a first time novel, this is a very assured and exciting piece of writing. From the beginning we are immersed in the strange and familiar; hungrily consumed by eagerness to follow the characters in their quests.
A powerful and moving story that captures potent and primal themes: myth, loss bereavement, resilience, hope courage and last but not least, transformation. I found myself drawn into and deeply moved by, the characters' flaws and idiosyncrasies. Each character: Tony, Eleri, Lucy and Chris spoke to me. Maybe because in some way they represent the archetypal aspects that exist within each of us but we often refuse to acknowledge.
One of the most powerful messages running through this novel, is don't fear transformation. Whether is be without or within. But face it with all the courage that you can muster in those vital seconds. And as a wonderful poet once said, 'take the path less traveled.'
