About the Author

A. W. Tozer died in 1963, but his life and spiritual legacy continue to draw many into a deeper knowledge of God. During his lifetime, Tozer pastored several Christian and Missionary Alliance churches. Missions and the deeper life in Christ were his primary focus. He also served as editor of the Alliance Life. Tozer authored more than 40 books, (at least two of which are considered classics: The Pursuit of God and Knowledge of the Holy), a tremendous accomplishment for a man who never received a formal theological education. The presence of God was his classroom, his notebooks and tools consisted of prayer, God's Word, and the writings of early Christians and theologians, the Puritans, and great men of faith. - Publisher. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Format: Paperback
This book is basically a series of short essays on topics like how does God guide? and more contentious topics like "is there any reason for denominations?" The essay are succinct, biblical and really practical / applicable.

This is an excellent and stimulating book

The writings of A.W.Tozer are astounding and ring just as true for the 21st century Christian as they did when he wrote them. They are essential reading for all who are serious about following the call of Christ, especially in an age when so many people are saying so many things that are at variance with genuine biblical Christian doctrine. The 21st century church needs Tozer's writings perhaps more than any generation that has gone before.

Nice collection of short reads 2 Sept. 2013
By Robert - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a little-known work by a widely-known author. It is not a book written to stand by itself, but rather a collection of short essays written by Tozer over a number of years that have been compiled by Harry Verploegh. It is back in print after apparently being unavailable for some number of years.

Tozer packs a lot into each essay, most of which are only 2 to 3 pages long. It isn't presented as a devotional work, but it would lend itself to that sort of usage. In typical Tozer fashion, the writings are directed to both the church as an entity and to individual believers.

Recommended reading if you are looking for bite-sized nuggets to challenge you daily.
They are Christ like, with no sugar coating 23 Jan. 2015

If you have not read Tozer, you may want to give him a try.His writings reflect fundamental & evangelical preaching in early America. They are Christ like ,with no sugar coating.many of his books are available in original prose & though. Many have been compiled & edited by some of his closest friends, with no change in prose & thought. In my humble opinion many Christan classics have been modernized and have lost their flavor, however,i do not feel this applies to Tozer, who died in 1963.
These writings certainly apply to today's world we live in. 4 Feb. 2015
