Book Description

27 Mar 2014 Gotrek & Felix
Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask...Travelling to the mysterious south in search of a mighty death, the Slayer Gotrek Gurnisson and his human companion, Felix Jaeger, find themselves caught up in a battle between warring kingdoms. Captured by the sinister Queen Khalida and forced to do her bidding, the adventurers must brave the horrors of the sun-soaked Land of the Dead, where the dead do not rest easy.

3.0 out of 5 stars A tale of two novels 6 Jun 2014
By Dazzo
Format:Paperback
I like josh reynolds he's done some cracking vampire novels and has a flee flowing easy to read style of writing with good characterisation. But for some reason it doesn't work in a Gotrek and felix novel, don't get me wrong this is well written with good characters, its just there are too many of them competing for attention. This causes a kind of choppiness to the story as we swing round each group, if you separated each protagonist you would have two good stories that wouldn't have had to be compromised to accommodate the other. Theres also a sense of been there done that with both the undead and vampires having already been encountered by the pair.

So not bad in any respect but it didn't set me on fire either.

I really enjoy this type of book. Something that takes me out of the daily reality and into a word that is pure fantasy. A nice break from the day to day grind of making a living.
