When you first start to read this book, it's seems to be a standard detective novel (a genre of which I am a huge fan) and then things get interesting.

It is extremely obvious that Selby has done an immense amount of research into many areas of myths and how police investigate murder cases. This background knowledge helps make the plotline feel as if it could actually happen.

The characters are all extremely well rounded and thoroughly likeable (even with their faults).

Although there are romantic strands to the story, they din' t take over the story and I commend Selby with dealing with mixed and same sex relationships which shows that many people simply fall in love or are attracted to a person rather than their gender.

In places, especially when Yasin is explaining about the Djinn, I felt as if I were watching an episode if Supernatural (which is a good thing).

I found the entire book fascinating, sometimes confusing - thank you footnotes - but it was the last 3 or 4 chapters that truly held my attention and turning the pages as the action is ramped up for the grand finale.

If you like detective novels and supernatural stories, I highly recommend you read this book!

I really enjoyed this book, and boy did it keep me thinking all the way through. Other books have so much going on that the transfer and processing of this information can be overwhelming. This story was brilliantly written in a way that fed in the information gradually, but all the time turning the screw with the deepening mystery that was beginning to make it self known to the reader. Whatever I say will not do the story justice, so enough of my rambling and please, if you like a good mystery/thriller that keeps you guessing on the many different spiritual and historical levels that exist within it, then go buy this book.

What a fantastic read!! Couldn't put it down from start to finish. My first ever e-book on my new Kindle.

The story was incredible. Made me use my imagination non stop. What a fantastic film it would make, would love to see the characters in "real life" especially Sariel and Seth. A brilliant read for those that like this kind of thing. A++++++ - gets my vote :o).
