3.0 out of 5 stars Useful info, but... 23 Jan 2013

This is a book which is packed with useful info and lovely pictures.

However, as pointed out by another reviewer - it is riddled with infuriating typos, layout errors, repetitions and truncated paragraphs at the end of some sections. For example, the caption on page 48 *literally* reads as follows: "Caption for this house that was built for caption for house that Caption for this house that was built for caption for house that". :-S

It's a real pity, because a bit of proofreading would have easily made this a five-star product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really helped us understand 1 Jun 2011
We've been to a few shows and the more we talked to people the more complicated the whole self-build idea seemed. We like the idea but it all sounded a bit too hard. We bought this book because we saw it advertised and I'm so glad we did. It has helped us by explaining in a really honest way what's involved. After reading it my wife and I both felt we could do it. Only time will tell if we can but we're going to have a try and at least we now know where to start and what's involved. We'll use a builder rather than try to do it ourselves - now all I've got to do is find a reliable one!
