As a long time fan of Nicole Jordan I keep hoping that she will write a story that I love as much as "The Savage" - unfortunately this is not it.
The story is of a dissolute nobleman taking his revenge on the sister of the man who ruined his sister's life by making her his mistress. The hero starts off with a cold and calculating seduction and gradually becomes emotionally involved while the heroine tries deperately to become less emotional in order to cope with her change in circumstance.
If you are someone who enjoys the writing of Susan Johnson or Bertrice Small then the extensive focus on bedroom scenes here may strike your fancy. Certainly the erotic scenes are pretty sizzling and handled with a deft touch by the author.
For me though I did not really feel enough of a connection with the characters to care all that much what happened between them, in bed or out.
Having said that it is an enoyable enough read with the advantage of being a little different - highly recommended for those who like their romances with quite a large helping of raunch.

Sin is seeking revenge after Vanessa's brother Auberey dishonoured his sister Olivia that led to her accident leaving her without ability to walk on a wheelchair. He neglected Olivia severely by living her to her own company feeling alone, uncared and abandoned whilst he engaged in unquenchable restlessness in the reckless pursuit of pleasure and indulgence. LITERALLY HE'S THE WORST MAN- WH*** I HAVE EVER READ... He made sure he has done his best to live up to his name of Lord Sin, filling his world with sexual depravity. He forced poor innocent Vanessa to become his mistress and because she was honorable she agreed to it only to save her family home and all the financial looses gambled by her brother (manipulated by Sin) so that her sisters and mother could live without losing their only home and prevent from deprivation. But Damien (Sin) was not honorable... he is a man of many... who ruins women and with no exception innocent Vanessa for his stupid revenge, a selfish PIG who uses women for his pervasive escapades without a slight of thought for anyone or anything but his own indulgence. This man has no qualities, he's not a man of honor and worst the author keep referring to his pervasive and distasteful lifestyle of sexual indulgences throughout the entire book and I do not wish to read in explicit details about him having sex with his mistress... it's very disturbing and distasteful and definitely takes away all the credibility for him to be a real man with any redeeming qualities. Even though his arrangement with Vanessa being his mistress remained, he left his sick sister alone with Vanessa and went back to his carnal indulgences in his famous "SIN Club" where he cheated on her...

Nicole Jordan bounces back full-force with a compelling romantic novel,THE SEDUCTION - a tale of redemption, love and breathtaking sensuality. From her early novels such as THE WARRIOR and THE HEARTBREAKER, Ms. Jordan never fails to convince me that historical romance can be such engaging read with the right chemistry and poignancy. But in THE SEDUCTION, she tests her boundaries with rejuvenating and intelligent dialogues and some erotic imaginative scenes that spices up the story.
Lady Vanessa Wyndham is one amazing character - strong-minded and intelligent, who agrees to redeem his brother by offering her services as a guardian to Lord Damien's sister (Olivia), because her brother, Aubrey has inflicted paralysis on Olivia in a forbidden tryst. Vanessa manages to win the trust and friendship of Olivia and charms Damien with her unique blend of beauty and wit. Damien, being a notorious rake, sought only his pleasure in tempting Vanessa, but never did he realize he would lose his heart as well.
The secondary romance with Aubrey and Olivia is one that miraculously compliments that of Vanessa and Damien - both seeks redemption and understanding in love. There is sensuality in the love scenes especially where Damien and Vanessa agreed on a coaching of love-making. Damien is frightened of his obsession with her, and he understands he is not worthy of her with his past decadent ways.
It is not just steamy sex that gloss up the pages but the mutual understanding and heated chemistry between the two characters that is lacking in many historical romances. Ms. Jordan is a gifted writer who knits many universal values together -the friendship between Olivia and Vanessa, the acceptance and forgiveness shown in Damien's love for Vanessa and his sister. It surpasses the ordinary historical romances with a passionate style. Altogether, this book is a keeper and is one which restores faith and love in cynics like me.
THE SEDUCTION is dazzling, passionate and heart-rendering that will enthrall fans of this talented writer. With a period of absence from the writing scene, she proves she hasn't lost the magical touch.
Welcome back, Nicole Jordan.

Great writing and lush sensuality distinguish this Regency 11 May 2000

Format: Mass Market Paperback
Beautiful Lady Vanessa Wyndham has not had an easy life. Young Vanessa is forced into a loveless marriage that ends in scandal when her wastrel husband is killed dueling over the favors of a notorious actress. Vanessa is left penniless and returns home to her family. Vanessa's brother, the irresponsible Aubrey, Viscount Rutherford, has created a scandal of his own when he plays a cruel practical joke on Miss Olivia Sinclair that tragically ends with a crippling injury to the innocent girl. And now, Aubrey has lost the Rutherford family estates in a gambling match with Olivia's vengeful brother, noted rake Damien "Lord Sin" Sinclair.
Vanessa is desperate to save the family home for her mother and two younger sisters and appeals to Lord Sinclair to allow the Viscount to repay him rather than forfeit the family home. Coveniently, "Lord Sin" is looking for a mistress and suggests to Vanessa that she work off her brother's debt by becoming his mistress for the summer. Vanessa feels she has no choice but to agree to Damien's offer and travels with him to his country home, under the guise of companion to his crippled sister Olivia. Once at Rosewood, Damien begins a tender seduction of Vanessa that results in the lady's complete capitulation to him.
Well, this is a Regency romance, so Vanessa and Damien find unprecedented sensual bliss in their lovemaking sessions, soon followed by love. But like any good rake, Damien does NOT wish to marry, or even fall in love, and tries by various methods to distance himself from his bewitching mistress. Vanessa tries to break from Damien by suggesting that he teach her how to be a courtesan, so that she can support herself after he tires of their affair. OF course, the path of true love is never smooth, but this is a Regency romance, and true love DOES triumph, after all.
Ms. Jordan is a new discovery for me. I liked this book for the imaginative and sensual love scenes, for the well-written (if predictable) story, and for the wealth of rich supporting characters. I did feel that in some cases the hero and heroine acted out of character, merely to satisfy the story's requirements. However, that is a small flaw in a book that is one of the best written Regency novels that I have read.

Steamy Romance! 17 Aug 2000
By Pamela Leung - Published on

Wow! Well what can I say... I believe I just finished reading the sexiest novel ever. THE SEDUCTION is filled with steamy sex scenes, from front to back. Now mind you, I didn't decide to read THE SEDUCTION because of steamy scenes, but because I wanted to read something by Nicole Jordan! And.. you know, this so happens to be her latest book.
Anyway, I'd like to say that I really enjoyed the story. Ms. Jordan has a way to include hot stuff in her story without distracting the reader from the plot. It's a novel where a reader can read, without thinking too much. Basically a book worth to spend time on. I loved her characters. Lady Vanessa had a very strong and caring personality. She took it upon herself to prevent her brother from losing all the family property to Lord Damien by posing as Damien's mistress. With her strengh, it really made her shine throughout the story. Lord Damien, a rake, was able to change for the better with the help of Vanessa. It was quite funny, now that I realize it, that Damien had a wonderful plan to seduce Vanessa, whereas in the end he was the one that ended up being seduced by Vanessa - unintentionally on her part, of course! It was also a pleasure to read about Olivia and Aubrey's relationship and how they got over their conflicts (Olivia is Damien's younger sister, and Aubrey is Vanessa's younger brother). I'm looking forward to THE PASSION - the sequel to THE SEDUCTION.
If you do end up enjoying this story like I did, another book on the similar theme of seduction is SEDUCED BY A SCOUNDREL by BARBARA DAWSON SMITH.

Intensely erotic! 28 July 2000

After reading The Seduction by Nicole Jordan, I only have to say I wish that I'd known of this author when I was single. This book could've gotten me through many a lonely night. The sex scenes are absolutely intense!
This book isn't all about sex, however. There is also a compelling story to be told. Damien Sinclair's sister Olivia is crippled in an accident due to the callousness of Aubrey Trent. Damien vows revenge against Aubrey, not caring who he steamrolls in the process. Aubrey's sister, Vanessa, goes to Damien to try to save the family home. Her real concern is for her younger sisters who've yet to make their come out. Vanessa offers her services as a companion to Olivia, who after her accident has shut out the world. Damien would rather have the widowed Vanessa as his mistress-but vows never to force her into his bed. As a matter of fact, she will have to come to him. They agree that she will act as Olivia's companion, for a start.
How the story progresses is wonderfully told and the real payoff is in the sex scenes. A definite keeper.

The Seduction 7 May 2000

This is one of the best books I've read all year. It is an erotic, sensual masterpiece, but what really makes the story great is the passion, emotions and feelings between the main characters. The H/H are so fasinating you can't wait to find out what's going to happen next. I also liked the secondary characters. Damien Sinclair is a rake with decadent and jaded tastes who has no use for love, but that all changes when he meets Vanessa. A must read. Not for the faint hearted, very sensual.
