Book Description

12 Jan 2002
Ellen Cornelius's old aunt may have been taken in by the unscrupulous Steve Corey, whose promises to take her to the fountain of youth have resulted in an arduous cross-country journey for Ellen and her aunt, but Ellen is not so easily fooled. As Corey and his companions lead the group west through unsettled land, Ellen becomes more and more beguiled by Corey's dark, compelling sexuality. But Ellen, refusing to admit her attraction, hides her feelings behind her prim manner and acid tongue, inspiring Corey to tempt and taunt her with his shockingly arousing comments. But he never dreamed that his own heart would be lured into uncharted territory as well....

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book 30 Mar 2001
By Helen Clayton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have read all of Nan Ryan's books and she just gets better with each one. The Seduction of Ellen was all I've come to expect from her writing; exciting, romantic, adventureous, and very sexy. This book is very HOT and Steve Corey is one thrilling hero.

2.0 out of 5 stars Had the makings of a good story but it fizzled 24 Mar 2001
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In 1899, divorcee Ellen Cornelius accompanies her octogenarian Aunt Augusta to London. The wealthy, crusty senior citizen seeks an elixir that will allow her to live forever. In England, the two Americans meet medicine salesman Steve Cory and his associate Padjan, allegedly an Anazasi.

Steve and Padjan agree to escort Augusta to the latter's Indian village where they insist a fountain of youth can be found. Ellen believes Steve and his cohort are clever con artists, shilling her aunt. However, the quartet travels to and across America. On the journey, Steve begins THE SEDUCTION OF ELLEN and soon they make love several times during the trek in places that will hurt the back. Still, though attracted to him, she hates him for what he is doing to her aunt and to her.

THE SEDUCTION OF ELLEN is an amusing historical romance that never decides whether to be a satire or a serious work. The story line succeeds when the plot winks at the sub-genre and Nan Ryan's previous novels, but ironically falls short when the tale turns serious as with the graphic sex scenes. A key secondary plot never ties back to the main theme leaving the audience wondering why Ellen's visit to the Citadel is included. Though often humorous, award winning Nan Ryan's latest novel is not at the level expected from this superstar.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Seduction OF Ellen 4 April 2001
By Susan Martin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Once again, Nan Ryan raises the bar for the genre. With an adventurous tale, she blends cultures, characters and folklore and takes the reader several steps beyond passion. Ellen meets her match in the sensual hero, Mr. Corey. The attraction is mutual and sends the reader into a searing look at intimacy. Do not plan to curl up with the intent of being lulled to sleep. This is some of Nan Ryan's finest work to date.
